The CRUD ‘Roadracer’ floating concept turns orthodox mudguard design on its head, doing away with traditional fixings.
If you can get a 4mm allen key between the top of the tyre and the forks-brake bridge-brakes, then Crud Roadracers will fit your racebike - it doesn’t matter what tyre size, it‘s clearance that's important.
Ultralight at under 200 grams the pair, they just hover in place, so there is nothing to rattle or rub. The brushes instantly dampen any road vibrations, settling the mudguard into its neutral central position.
after visiting the kidderminster store and speaking to my mate Barry who rides a road bike too . I piked up a pack and off i went to the till . I am really impressed with the ease of fitments & just a small amount of adjustment once fitted made all the difference to my ride .I live in the countryside and most of my routes take me in close proximity too farms . well the amount of overspray has reduced by nearly 100% . They are very simple to put on & take off . i think knowing what our British summers are like , i will be leaving mine on for the forseable future . Great too if you ride out with your mates as it also stops them from being showered when you ride down filthy roads . im going to add some reflective tape to mine at the rear for added security . Best item ive bought for my bike and i would highly recommend them . For what very little weight gain that there is will soon be forgotten when you find that you are cycling through puddles and not getting soaked up your back of covering your mates behind you in water .....perfect thanks Barry in the kidderminster store for recommending them too me
Easy to fit but very flimsy. They rub on 700x25 tyres, I had to buy a set of 700x23 tyres and now all is fine. Keep me dry and clean when cycling in the wet
Crud Roadracer Mk2 mudguards, very easy to fit but feel a little flimsy, some of the shorter fixing screws could do with being a little longer and could possibly benefit from being metal - However, the mudguards are a very good fit and protect me, my bike and other cyclists in the wet and despite the flimsy feeling of them I hear no rattles from them and haven't yet suffered with them rubbing on my tyres. A good purchase I think?
Easy to fit although difficult to prevent rubbing. Doesn't cause too much of an issue when cycling.
However..
The plastic used is quite flimsy and after just over 2 months of winter cycling, has just worn through the guard completely. A couple of supports on each side may keep the mudguard off the tyre a lot better.
