Yellow Grivel G12 New Matic Crampon (C2) image 1

Grivel's G12 New Matic Crampons are classic 12-point C2 crampons designed for general mountaineering, alpinism, mixed and ice climbing, and moderate waterfall routes.

These are about 950g per pair, so not a beginner’s crampon, but if you’re an experienced walker looking for the edge on dangerous ground, these can help.

The four points that are perpendicular to the crampon rails, prevent shearing in soft snow and improve security while descending (facing outward). Because the four points are rotated through 90 degrees they make inclines easier and safer.

The G12 is easily folded for transportation and is delivered with the Antibott included (AntiBott are the anti-balling plates which work like bubbles- popping off snow that has compacted and balled up,, meaning you don’t have to keep stopping to dig your crampons out. )

The crampons are fully adjustable by hand, without tools, and one size fits all (up to size 47 - for larger sizes the Long Extension Bar is needed). This is a very handy feature when you’re miles from civilization, and make packing or an ice climbing trip slightly lighter!

To protect your G12 New Matic in your bag you may also want to consider attaching Crampon Crowns

just the job for big winter walks/ scambles

Brought these to replace by Grivel F2, about time some might say especially as they suited my old more solid B3 boot, the G12 is aimed at the B2 boot , these fitted my Mammot Goliath's very well, quick easy fit to, no snow balling, did not need to refit all day, and stood up to the flat and steep equally well (grade i/ii/iii rock and ice), did not effect the comfort of my boots, would say if you intend any high grade winter route than grade 3 than that I would recommend a B3/C3 combination, but as a general crampon for big hills and easy scrambles worth every penny. highly recommend. if you only walk and think a 10 point would do, I would still consider these 12pointers they are no less comfortable and if you ever come across a bit of steep hard snow you will have the front points to stop you slipping

Excellent crampons

These are my first pair of crampons as I have started to do a lot more winter walking. Tried them for the first time yesterday on Sharp Edge where there is quite a bit of snow. I was very impressed, they are really simple and easy to fit and they performed well on the snow/ice. The only downside would be the extra strap left over once you tighten them, there could maybe be another loop of some sort to wrap it up and avoid any trips. All in all very impressed.
