Scouts camp overnight to get ‘first dibs’ on our new Manchester store!

As we opened our new Manchester store on the 30th of March we were greeted by dozens of tents pitched up overnight by the Scouts, preparing to be the first indoors. Braving the elements to be first in line for the opening with their tents pitched outside, it was a scene reminiscent of a big budget video game launch!

Our 28th store, the new 55,000 sq. ft site at Piccadilly Basin, Great Ancoats Street,is an exciting place for anyone interested in the outdoors. Complete with a floor to ceiling waterfall and the same mix of gear to appeal to all outdoor enthusiasts- from festival-goers to families, the arrival of a new GO Outdoors store has been warmly received across Manchester.

John Dawson, from the Scout Association, explained: “Embracing the great outdoors is at the very heart of what the Scouts are about, and GO Outdoors reflects that with its vast range of outdoor products. This new store will give us all of the resources we need to teach the essential Scouting knowledge for years to come. We’re incredibly excited about GO Outdoors coming to Manchester and we wanted to mark the occasion in true Scouts fashion.”

Store Manager, Simon Lee said: “This is a truly exciting moment for everyone at the Manchester store and for the whole GO Outdoors family. With this new outlet we hope we can make the outdoors much more accessible for the people of Manchester and give them the opportunity to enjoy everything the great outdoors has to offer.”

We look forward to welcoming more people into the Manchester store, whilst April 2011 will see similar openings in Stoke-on-Trent and York, you'll have to check back for more information!
