Polygon’s legendary Siskiu is a trail bike that laps-up singletrack and can handle a bit of rough stuff too. You might expect to see much of the D7’s components, like the Shimano Deore groupset and RockShox suspension, on more expensive bikes – That’s the Polygon way.
Polygon’s approach to mountain bike design is, first dial-in the geometry, then use top-spec branded components where it makes a difference. The result with the Siskiu D7 is one of the best value for money short-travel full-suspension bikes on the market.
You’ll need to choose a wheel size. The D7 is available with fast-rolling, confidence-inspiring 29-inch wheels, or more playful 27.5-inch wheels which love to go skywards. The 29er is our pick for taller riders, and the large wheel’s eagerness to roll makes it an easy choice for XC style riding.
Front and rear suspension on the Siskiu D7 is taken care of by RockShox, a company that has been dedicated to perfecting bike suspension for more than 30 years. The 120mm Recon RL fork blends the advantages of air sprung performance with easy set-up.
On the climbs, a steep seat tube angle puts you in a comfortable position to efficiently power up the hills. The suspension kinematics have been revised for improved anti-squat on this latest D7 model too, meaning minimal energy loss through pedal bob and suspension movement. And, if you need even more efficiency, the fork and shock have compression adjustment for a locked-out feel.
The Polygon Siskiu D7 is a great value all-rounder for UK trails. Its well-matched, mid-range components find the happy balance between price and performance.
