Warm but short lived

I bought a pair of these gloves and was initially impressed. This feeling was short-lived as within 5 weeks the stitching on the cuff started to pull apart and the palms were already showing signs of wear. I got a refund and won't buy from Polaris again!

polaris gloves

Terrible. Wore them to work for four weeks , then the stitching on the seams came apart. Replaced them with stormseal ones- much better!

not bad but not great

bought a pair of these as i only had fingerless gloves and found on the cold morning the fingers tips would be numb after 20 minutes of riding.

when i initially used them they did great, kept my hands lovely and warm and wind chill free, however after a 4 hour ride from macclesfiled forest to cat&fiddle then back again via the trials in lovely english rain and mist, when i finished the ride i found my hands were both wet and cold and the gloves were dripping.

So.......yes there ok for the cold Dry day rides but if you want a good waterproof glove then shell out that little extra.

very effective winter glove.

Bought a pair of these recently from G.O after a few too many recent rides with cold hands after my usual riding gloves just didnt stand up to the temperatures and wind chill.

Took these new gloves out this morning for a test run in the cold early morning sunshine and they did not disappoint!

On first glance i felt the cuff was going to be a little short at the wrist to slip under my jacket sleeves but once seated they were just right, and they do up well with the velcro fastener too.
I guess it relies on having a good sleeve length of whatever you are wearing and a good riding position too so that you are not stretching to the handlebars. But for me (with long arms) they were just right.

I had been ploughing reviews on various websites trying to see what others were recommending to get an idea of the features and materials used to keep the wind and rain at bay as well as what sort of money to expect to pay.

These gloves while perhaps not featured on the core MTB forums did their way on to some comparisons and seemed to perform well in tests.
If you want to pay 2 or 3 times the price for a pair of seal skinz, altura or endura etc for a pair that come branded then be my guest but for the money in the sale i am more than happy so far.

I was sized a medium by the chart but with long fingers the large felt much better and i didnt feel like i was stressing the fingertips.

The grip was very good on the palm to handlebar as was the feel through them too.

Ok so i have not fully tested the waterproofness of them yet but they survived the splashbacks from puddles and fords.

Hands stayed very warm throughout the ride and i certainly felt the cold outside on occasions when i had to remove a glove. And they seemed to breathe well too as hands never got clammy or damp inside.

A useful thing noted was that the inner lining seemed to stay in place upon removing them and so making it quick to put back on and no fiddling with the fingers.

All in all then a good glove for the money, i did try on the other gloves in the polaris range but for sake of a few quid more i thought i would go for a waterproof version.

Regardless of what glove you opt for i would definately recommend trying a pair on before buying as the size guides are just that, a guide. Pretty much all reviews i read for gloves gave this advice too!
