Good value for money
I bought this cheap plastic device to check waypoint mileage provided on a chart. Once I worked out how to use the device by practicing on the map scale, I then proceeded to compare my actual map measurements with those provided on a distance chart and found that my measurements compared very favourably. However I did find the supplied information ambiguous, e.g. multiply or divide ? My map was 1:25000, i.e. 2.5 inches to 1 mile or 4 cm to 1 km Therefore taking my reading off the inches to miles scale, I divided my resultant number by 2,5 to give the required distance in miles. Hope this helps.

If you only want know the APPROXIMATE distance then this will do for you but the inaccuracy e.g.+/- about 2 miles over a 10 mile distance makes it useless for precise measurement. Guess one gets what one pays for!

Bought one and was disappointed as it did not work properly - kept getting stuck. Took it back and it was exchanged. This one works very well and appears to be fairly accurate. Not suitable if you wish for an exact distance unless imeasuring in a striaight line.
Far more complicated than it needs to be. Stick to a piece of string to measure and save the money. Would take it back but not worth the Petrol.
