Best reel for £50 and under
I’ve got to me of these reels, and I’ve had 20’s and it takes them in super easily! 20+lbers take about 2 minutes to get in no joke. These are perfect with the TFG banshee 10ft 3lb rod for almost everything
Tfgear big pit reels
I bought 2 of these reels,as they seem to have good reviews overall,and although not had time to use them yet, look and feel the business.
Why pay over a hundred, when these are much less a piece..
good for the money
If you know how to cast you won't have any trouble with this reels. I spent £600 on fox reels and within a year they all broke.. good reels for the money.. look ok to
quality issues
I have purchased 2 of these reels both broke 24 hours into a session. I would usually recommend tfg but not for reels.
Bale arm issues
On the whole this is not a bad reel, the only issue I have with them is the fact that the bale arm closes far too often for my liking on the cast, which results in quite a few crack offs.
The venue I fish requires a cast, at times, in excess of a 100 yds so you have to put a bit of effort into your cast, but having this issue in the bac of your mind puts you off.
salt water
Been using one of these on the beach for about 6 months now on a regular basis and have had no problems at all. They make a surprisingly good beach reel and handle very well. A quick rinse and oil after each session and it's good to go again and showing no signs of salt corrosion.
Upgraded line clip
I reviewed this reel previously here and on my blog and mentioned that the line clip on the Max Power reel tended to induce alot of crack offs.A few months after writting the review i see TF Gear have put a much kinder spring loaded line clip on the Max Power making this very near to being the perfect entry level big pit reel,why it wasn't done from the reels inception is a mystery but well done TFG you have made a good product even better.

max power reels
I have 3 of the max power reels now 2 on my main rods and I have brought 1 for my spodding.
I have to say that it was handling job perfectly. The line lay is good and retrieval rate was very quick.
For the money these reels are fantastic. I would recommend them.

Had problems with line going behind the spool-casting- then after 9 months handle worked loose shortly after it just gave up the ghost-threw it in the bin such a shame as it really launched a spomb
