Does what it's says on the box

Good little light it's handy it folds away nice
The remote is very handy when getting into bed
Just a shame the quality of the remote is very poor compared to the light

Poor Quality Product

I've had two of these as thought I was unlucky with the first. The remotes are flimsy as others have stated so I wont dwell on that. First one I had the soldered connections to the switch broke off, discovered on first use when away camping and light wouldn't come on. Second one just buzzes constantly when used with the mains plug. Shame as we thought these were perfect for our camping setup. Back to the tried and tested gas lamp for us.

Great light, awful remote

Bought the light today. So far, I agree with the majority of the other reviews - great light - good design, weight, compact, light output, etc. The remote however, is a different ball game - unbelievably cheaply made, battery not included (£4.50 for 2) but works!!! Not sure for how long though.

great for tent / awning

A great LED light for plug in to electrics. Very bright with dimmable function by holding the on /off button to vary the brightness. The rubberised shade can fold up to give a greater angulation of light. plenty of cable to plug in and place in centre of tent. I have not need to use the remote control so cant comment on this. I like it, bought in local GoOutdoor store as was on offer, not sure I would spend the full price of £40 though. It folds nearly flat (2-3cm deep) so great to store when not being used.

Excellent light

Excellent light for camping - light weight, thin and lights up a 6 man tent well.

Remote doesn't come with batteries and there is no mention of the size.

Loved this!

I didn't realise till I got to the till that I had picked up the remote version by accident.
I'm glad I opened up all my purchases to try out before the camping trip as there were no instructions on which battery to purchase and it obviously wasn't a standard battery. I emailed Outwell who informed me that I needed a

MN21/A23 12V battery

This light fitted well in our new Vango Nadia and I loved the colour. The dimming function on the remote came in very handy when getting the youngsters off to sleep and the remote was handy for when we needed to get up in the night for a visit to the toilet. The remote did feel a bit cheap but did it's job and comes with a handy carabiner style clip hook which meant we could attach it to the zip on the bedroom door when we were sleeping or the tent door when we were out and so never lost it.

Would recommend.

DIY Remote!

FlyFish provides a useful guide to the missing battery problem. Be aware that Duracell's MN21 battery does not fit inside the remote!!! However, B&Q's Diall equivalent does. Good luck...

Remote let down

Light itself is great, light bright and the dimmer function works well..
Let down is the remote and battery..
Remote is very cheap and flimsy, it was a struggle opening for the battery and thought it was going to just break in my hand, also no batteries or information on what battery required..
Took remote to Halfords and got the wrong battery however a staff member pointed the correct one for me, cost an extra £5 for this which for the price of the light should be included, i would recommend buying the a different model without the remote, save your money..

Outwell Orion camping light

The box does not say "battery required" or what type you need. The light it's self is ok but very dissapointed with the quality of the remote and that the battery that is not really a widely used battery is not included. I have 1 starred as I think that for this price the battery should be included and the remote feels cheep.

Remote is a let down

Totally agree about the remote, does not look or feel anywhere near the quality of the lamp. The picture on the front is misleading. Seen better quality remotes on much cheaper products. A big let down. Lamp performs well although the dimmer function is very fiddly for my big fingers. Great lamp let down by a very poor quality remote. Outwell, sort it out!

Great light, poor quality remote for the extra money

The light is great. Really good design and gives a nice light in the tent. The dimmer function is useful too. This light is effectively the Leonis model with the addition of a remote and an extra £10 for the privilege. The remote is the let down. First - no battery supplied or instructions / label on the remote to say which one is needed. It appears to take a 12volt, P23GA Varta or similar (key fob remote battery). Only found this out after buying the wrong one initially. Second - the build quality of the remote is terrible. Cheap, flimsy plastic and the battery spring looks like it won't last too many battery changes. Battery cover wouldn't slide open initially (nearly broke it). The remote shown on the box is not the one in the box. Shame really as the remote function is useful as at least you can get into sleeping bags before turning the light off. For the extra money I would have expected better from Outwell.
