Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
Collar: Measure around the base of the neck where the collar sits.
Chest: Measure the chest at the fullest part, placing the tape close up under the arms.
Waist: Measure the natural waistline.
Inside Leg: Measure from the crotch to where your trouser is normally worn on the shoe.
Jacket Length: Measure from the centre back of your neck to your hemline. The length measurement will vary depending on the style.
Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.
This is my first Mammut jacket as I've found in the past Mammut can be cut very very slim but this wasn't, its a close cut but theres still enough room to get a few layers underneath for winter walking and climbing.
Its classed as a 2.5 layer jacket so id guess it sits somewhere in between a 2 and 3 layer gortex jacket but without the weight of a 3 layer. Its cut slightly shorter at the front as many alpine type jackets are to allow for a harness, the pockets are sat where they should be, not too low to get in the way of a harness but not so high they're on the chest.
All in all its a great jacket that can be used high up in the mountains or day to day walking the dog.
A 2.5 layer hardshell jacket made by Mammut for under £200. What more could you ask for?
Got these in black and blue and eying up the red ones now as drivers struggle to see past their screens on roads and limited horizontal vision.
Bad: hood for this price should have a 50 p strap to roll up, but I guess its diffi.cult to convince the swiss to change since they need a democratic vote for everything.
Good: light weight, wind and waterproof, good size and number of pockets(3), velcro straps on sleeves, hemcord, adjustable hoodie and collar.
Found my own way to roll hood up and fix it with hood strap tied into hookstrap in inner neck area.
Brilliant underarm vents, very sturdy zips all round, probably not breathable for mountain runners, but good enough for all else.
Easy to combine with any warm mid layers
Would recommend .
High quality, Seam was taped carefully, High waterproof level, comfortable to wear. Lightweight and reliable. Underarm ventilation works brilliantly. Highly recommended
I bought this jacket in the sale as I was looking for a quality waterproof that really keeps you dry. Lightweight and feels so comfortable to wear. My first outing with this was a two day battering in horizontal rain and hail and strong gusting wind in the Ogwen valley. I'm so pleased with it as it kept me bone dry after two 7 hour days. At this price I am going to purchase another for when I wear this one out!!! ????????
I know breathable doesn't mean you don't sweat. However given the recent heavy summer rain ive been disappointed with the clammy nature of the jacket. I bought it because my goretex coats are a bit too heavy for summer use. Still I think it will actually be better for me on the autumn. Following johns advice from the Gooutdoors video I think I'll try an Event material next.
Excellent quality noticeable from the first moment you slip it on. Lightweight, stylish and a bargain at the price. What more could you want?
Mammot have created an ideal jacket for wet weather at a reasonable price when in sale, although I would still be as happy if I had paid full price. wind proof works fantastic the waterproof is perfect the design and fit is superb both comfortable and allows you to keep active without restriction. looks good, does an amazing job keeping you dry. the stitching is sealed throughout, the main zip tucks away under the top so no rain gets in at the top. the hood has three tightening strings one either side and one at the back which allows a perfect snug fit, to your head the peak on the hood allows the rain to run away from your face. Velcro fixing on the sleeves lightweight easily carried or packed away simply a must for UK weather
So far i have gotten the jacket out and walked in the rain as often as i can, ive not felt damp at all and no water has been let through. the pit zips work brilliantly at helping to circulate air and the microfibre neck baffle stops any chance of catching skin in the zip or rubbing.
All in all, a brilliant lightweight jacket that is truly waterproof and able to stand up to what ever the elements can throw at you.
Excellent light weight waterproof which packs into a small bundle. Underarm zips help ventilation in hot conditions which - despite breathability - result in perspiration. Affordable at the sale price (£99). Durability yet to be proved.
Bought this as a lightweight waterproof for walking holidays. Now, it is certainly very lightweight and it's a great cut. However, waterproof it is not. More than half an hour in constant drizzle (typical English summer weather) and the exterior becomes saturated and water begins to sleep through.
Not great for heat mention either since, when wet, the fabric becomes very cold and clammy.
If you want a decent lightweight waterproof coat then go for the Rab Fuse 2. If you happy to carry a little bit of extra weight, then I'd recommend the Mammur Dammastock.
