These are NOT gore-tex gloves so don't go out in heavy rain or wet snow and expect them to keep your hands dry. They are great in cold dry conditions, I stick these on as soon as i get to a belay and i can stand for hours without getting cold hands. these are my second pair, i still use my first pair but i have had them for 2 years so the nose wipe has started to degrade. Perfect for scottish ice and mixed climbing providing you don't use them when it's soaking.

Gloves look the part but soak up the rain like a sponge. Within minutes of it raining (granted the rain was sideways) these gloves were soaked and hands were frozen.

THESE GLOVES ARE NOT MEANT TO BE WATERPROOF, DONT TREAT THEM AS THOUGH THEY ARE! The Rab baltoro glove is a superb technical winter soft shell glove. I recently went winter climbing in the Cairngorms where the rough granite rock usually trashes glove for fun. The leather palms held up very well. They have a pile lining and primaloft on the back of the glove which kept my hands warm even when we stopped moving. Get a close fit cos the pile does squash down a bit. What I really like about the glove is they were still dexterous enough do fiddle about with zips/ harnesses buckles, maps and compasses while as the same time warm enough to stop me getting cold. Felt a cold spot or two where I was hold metal ice axes but that soon went when I started moving again, only lasted a minute. And the other point is even when they got damp from touching snow and rock they dried very quick when we reached the summit and the walk down. Even the leather dried which is unheard of in my other waterproof gloves. Once they (my old waterproof gloves) r wet they stay damp and wet all day. These are a brilliant glove. Only slight down side is the drawstring on the cuff is rather long when pulled tight. But your could diy it to a shorter length. My best glove now. Well done Rab

Superb gloves, used with no problems at -34 in Lapland, kept hands warm, don't listen to the negative reviews about waterproofing, they're not meant to be, it says so in the description. Fully recommended.

These were bought for me as a present. No complaints there.

Excellent in the cold and wind.

I expected a £50 glove to be waterproof! Walking all day around Rochdale, sadly disappointed. Hands wet and cold.

Doesn't do the RAB name any favours, nor Go! (of which I am usually a big fan) if it comes to that.

3 stars for the dry. Would have been 5 stars if they were waterproof.

For the price these are a great softshell glove, nice leather palms are grippy.
These gloves are very warm in cold frosty conditions and will shrug off the odd shower, what they wontt do is keep your hand dry in a down pour, or if its heavy rain all day, hence why they are only water resistant not waterproof.

Bought these for my 21 year old son. He's just returned from a week skiing in Tignes - winds 25mph+ at the top of the slopes and wet snow lower down. Said the gloves were brill, never suffered from cold hands, best gloves ever.

Despite the negative review posted by Stevendon these gloves are awesome; they are not designed for wet conditions but rather cold snowy ones. I've used these gloves from technical ascents in Scotland, Alpine climbing in the Alps to peak bagging in the Drakensberg and they've always been excellent. A top notch glove if you plan to go to cold (down to -20ish without a liner) dry places.

I bought these glove to go skiing in Switzerland this winter. Had no problems with these at all. Temperatures dropped between -10 to -15 and the gloves were fantastic, hands didn't get cold or wet at all. Leather palms worked well. Also had days where they spent most of it in the snow, again hands stayed warm and dry. All in all I think there a brilliant glove, well worth the money and I would definitely recommend these to others. Another quality product from Rab.

Wore these following the Clyde and Forth canal route and it was raining all day and very windy. The gloves got saturated and my hands froze. It got so bad that I had to take them off and try to warm my hands in my pocket. I bought them from Gooutdoors and thought "Rab" good brand but what a disappointment.
