Rab Exodus

Once again Rab does not disappoint. Excellent jacket with a great fit. The only criticism is that it's missing a Napoleon pocket which I have got used to with my other Rab jackets. My last rab softshell is 8 years old and going strong let's hope this one is just has good

Does exactly what it says on the tin....,

Warming, windproof, showerproof..... and that was just my night at Goodison Park against Watford!!

In all fairness the jacket was exactly what I needed as the winter starts kicking in. Sizes are bigger than I expected to allow for layering up. Will be wearing each week now as my good luck charm!!

Delivered quick sharp, best price out there.

Get one in your basket, it’s boss!!!

Great softshell

Like all my Rab stuff, the finish quality is top class. It's a heavier weight autumn-ish softshell and the sizing is on the generous size for Rab (I'm an XL) who I normally find a bit more snug than some brands - it still fits ok though and it also means I can slip a couple of layers under it for winter.

Rab Exodus Jacket

Hood way to big, naff zip on front.
Montane Sabretooth a million times better.

Rab Jacket

Lovely jacket but too long on the sleeves

Rab Exodus jacket

This is a great bit of kit for the money, I have found the sleeves a bit longer but that's not a big issue, it seems tough and durable hood is great for helmet wearers, I would recommend this jacket especially at this price.

Perfect softshell for me

This has been my go-to jacket this winter, I chose this as one of the reviews advised if you run hot or perspire a lot then this is the one.
I chose a size up from what I normally wear as the XL was slightly snug and I like to layer up when it's really cold. As with all Rab items, the arm length is spot on and is something I struggle with other manufacturers.
The hood fits over a helmet well and fits great without when its cinched down.

Although this jacket is not waterproof, I found it pretty water resistant in light showers when windchill is a factor. I would never intentionally wear it out in a downpour but it's good to know that it stands up to some moisture! Earlier reviewers complaining that it's not waterproof have been mis sold the item or assumed that as it was Rab and expensive it must be waterproof!

If you haven't guessed, I love this jacket and use it on the mountains, dog walking, knocking about town etc. Oh and the pockets are still accessible with a harness on which is a big bonus!

I've yet to find a Rab garment that i've not been happy with............Hope I haven't jinxed it.

Great softshell for mixed climbing

The Exodus is a superb jacket for Scottish winter mixed climbing, although it isn’t perfect:

- It lacks a membrane but keeps the worst of damp conditions out and it rarely wets through. Even when it does, it dries really quickly, and doesn't become cold. It’s virtually windproof (i.e you don’t notice any chilling with it) thanks to it being a pretty thick material, and re-proofing it with a DWR spray occasionally keeps it working really well.

- The sleeves are long enough (Arcteryx seem to struggle with this even on their climbing specific gear) and the cuff adjustable enough to fit over/under gloves as necessary and not ride down your arms even at full over-head stretch.

- The hood is great for fitting over even bulky helmets and doesn’t lift the hemline of the jacket up to cause drafts, and is easily cinchable to keep it properly in place.

- The material is absolutely bombroof and aside from some of the stitching now beginning to look a bit tatty after four years of abuse, it’s still holding up well. The material itself still looks new, despite thrutching up many of the finest thrutchy and grovelly Cairngorm granite chimneys and cracks.

- The two biggest irritations when using this as a climbing shell is that there is no chest pocket to stuff gels/phone/compass etc into, and the main pockets sit a bit too low so the base of the zip sits underneath your harness which can make it awkward to get at gels etc on belays.

Overall it’s a great jacket, not expensive, and long lasting. After four years I’m beginning to think about replacing it but as the only alternative seems to be another one of the same, I’ll probably continue using it for a while yet.

Great softshell

Wore this softshell recently when scrambling around Malhamdale and Goredale Scar. The jacket has plenty of give and it's stretch allows for free movement when climbing. It kept out the wind and it's water repellency coped with a very heavy downpour really well. I strongly recommend this softshell jacket.

Great jacket - not quite windproof enough for me

Firstly this is a great jacket. The fit and quality of the jacket is really good. It has two generous pockets and the large hood is easily adjustable. The breathability is exceptional and its ability to protect from drizzle is better than expected. It appears to be really durable and comfortable.

It’s clear that this jacket is a good product. For me it didn’t have quite enough warm or wind protection for the weight and hence why I gave it a 4/5 and not 5/5. It does protect from wind but its focus is more on breathability than wind resistance. It feels a little like power stretch but whilst a bit more wind resistant it is nowhere near as warm. I’ve now opted for another jacket for Scottish winter. If you run hot and perspire a lot then it is likely be a good jacket for you.

Rab Exodus Softshell

Have worn this in all conditions, both as an outer jacket as well as between a fleece and a waterproof, and it performs brilliantly every time. Would recommend to anyone needing a high spec soft-shell.

Rab-tastic

Always fancied a Rab jacket, and was in the market for a new multipurpose jacket when I found the Exodus. Its an unlined windproof soft shell jacket that does exactly that - it keeps you completely windproof! I've now had it for 6 months and it's been through gales and showers without issue, I'm not expecting it to be waterproof - but it seems pretty water resistant so far. Worn with a fleece it has been down to -4C including windchill and kept me toasty! I am 6'2" with long arms and the jacket fit perfectly and covers my bum. No complaints!Would definitely recommend it - especially at this price!

Top gear

Top quality once again. Rap is great outdoor gear. Review sections ruined by imbeciles that bought the wrong gear for what they wanted it for.

Detailed review

To the woman below saying she got soaked to the skin, you clearly have no idea about this, or any form of outdoor jacket. It is a SOFTSHELL, not intended to be WATERPROOF. It is water resistant which means it has a DWR that will shed off light rain and snow. For heavy rain, purchase a waterproof.

Anyway, here's my detailed review:http://chriscowdreyclimbing.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/review-rab-exodus-softshell-jacket.html?m=1

dont buy!

I wore this jacket having paid £120 for it once in lakes last November got soaked to skin very very disappointed haven't bothered with it again it's hanging on a clothes peg total waste of hard earned cash . Water repellent my foot!!

Spent £25 on a cheap Berghouse jacket which gives better protection

So **** off about it wil never ever buy Rab again
Don't do it

WOW

I bought this jacket a while ago and i absolutely love it, dispute the fabric being thin it is unbelievably durable and absolutely wind proof. The DWR finish on it is fab as well as it means i can leave my goretex jacket behind if im in town.

Great Windproof Softshell

Go outdoors were great to price match this for me in their Derby store initially. Its a great looking product and the colour was the initial draw for me but at the end of the day it's got to do a job. I already have an excellent softshell (Montane Sabretooth) but that one is better for colder days and I liked this one as it was very lightweight. I've wore it a few times now but it had a real test today in driving wind and rain. I realise it's going to get wet after a certain amount of heavy rain but I had a 1hr walk today with constant light rain and I was bone dry when I got home. It kept the wind at bay and the hood was a nice fit. Overall, Very impressed....Windproof, Lightweight, Stylish, Another great Rab purchase.

Great product

I am a big fan of Rab, so a little biased, but I do like this jacket. The colours are great and have been complemented when wearing it. The pit zips also are useful for venting when going up the bigger hills.
Unlike the review below, I haven't had any issue with the finish and do agree it isn't toasty warm for sitting around in post walk, but that provides a good excuse to get the duvet jacket out.
