A sporty and small camping stove that can fire up a feast in minutes.

Coleman Sportster 2 Stove:

Efficient and robust, Coleman's Sportster 2 Stove is ideal for camping anywhere in any conditions.

It's a dual fuel stove that can run off Coleman Fuel or unleaded petrol, meaning it will work well in colder temperatures as well as warm. The stove is lightweight with a low profile, making it very stable to use, and has full flame control from simmer to high. The windblock pot support system helps maintain maximum heat and so saves fuel.

This 1000g stove is an ideal way of cooking on the go, particularly on trips where camping-specific fuel may be hard to come by. It's also a good choice as an emergency stove to keep handy 'just in case'.

The stove itself is only 15 by 12cm in size and weighs 1000g, but can run on full power for over 8 hours. With a boil time of just under 5 minutes, this is slower than some stoves by a minute or so but the smaller size and weight and flexibility of fuel source make this is a generous pay off.

A quality stove that the serious adventurer will appreciate.

Coleman sportster 2

Over the year I tried all sorts of makes of gas stoves then a friend suggested this it does cost a little more than the small gas stove but the performance in extreme conditions at both end of the scale have proved time and again that it is the best for size speed and ease of use excellent stove

Seems pricey but worth it

Having seen how canister stoves struggle in all but the finest days, I swallowed hard and purchased this. It boils a large mug-full of water in a couple of minutes in the summer and maybe takes an extra minute or two in the winter. It can be a bit fierce for simmering foods and you need to keep stirring. You do need some kind of wind-break for ease of use though. Using liquid fuel is always going to need care so please be careful where you use it after filling it. So far, I've always used standard unleaded fuel and it has been OK for two winters now.

Pretty good

Bought this after trying many stoves and wanting something small but reliable / powerful. It worked no problems but does need sheltering from the wind as when on low it did get blown out a couple of times, once I knew this it quite happily boiled my kettle. Would recommend.

A powerful stove

I use two of these stoves when camping and more than once on a chilly morning have been asked to lend a stove out to a family whose gas stove lacked enough power to cook their breakfast. Powerfull - yes, but it does need to be watched if there are children about. I have never used any fuel apart from bog standard unleaded, though there are several mentions on the web that Naphtha thinners can be used too. Amazing to me how the cost of this stove has increased over the past 7 yrs, a sign of its quality and usefulness.

Sportster 2 stove.

Sir/Madam,
Purchased in Jan 2003, (now 2014) and fired it up for the first time!. Does what it says on the tin, brilliant!. Only one query, it does not state anywhere the fuel capacity of the tank. I mention this because I will be doing a lot of 'way off the beaten track' walking, and it would be useful to know how much spare fuel to take.

Best stove I've used

For flexibility, adjustability, ease of use, this is a hands-down winner. My previous one was used heavily for years and never went wrong, eventually I lent it to a nephew who lost it. The new one is just as good.

Worth buying a Nash Stove Bag from an angling shop to keep/carry it in.

Brilliant...

I've used mine for 8 years now. 7 months in South America, 6 months in Africa on a motorcycle.. 2 months in the Yukon on a canoe trip and uncountable times in campsites around the U.K.

It's BRILLIANT. I've ran it on all kinds of terrible fuels and it keeps going. It does love the Coleman fuel but it will work fine with low grade petrol too. Put a cap of fuel injection cleaner in every 20 fills and it keeps it running clean.

The most important feature of this stove is that it runs on the most commonly available fuel in the whole world, after wood.
