Surviving a Family Festival

Expert Advice 3 min read

At Go Outdoors, we love festival season. Not only is it a great chance to enjoy the outdoors, great music, and delicious food, whilst the weather is at its prime (we hope) but it’s also a great chance to create those long-lasting family memories.

Family-friendly festivals are a chance to spend some time together as a family, but whether you’re going for a day or a weekend it’s important that you take all the essentials to make the most of the event. Being packed and prepared is the difference between having the best time and maybe having the worst time depending on what you forget.

To help you out, we’ve created a list of our top 10 essential items for a successful family festival.

1. Trailer/Buggy: some would say this is a staple to bring along at a music festival, especially when you’re bringing along your little ones.

2. Eye Masks: people always pack warm layers in anticipation of chilly British summer nights but often forget that the sun blazing through a thin tent wall can cause quite a rude awakening at daybreak. You need your beauty sleep, after all.

4. Wet wipes / hand sanitizer, bite cream, and insect replant: people sometimes forget about the presence of pesky bugs at festivals so keep them at bay with a handy spray or treat any bites as soon as you can. Wet wipes and hand sanitizers are always good for a quick clean-up before handling food or when you get mucky on the campsite.

5. Torch: Perfect for those middle of the night toilet visits.
