Great comfort and support with very little weight, for alpine trekking.
GORE-TEX® TechnologiesMammut's Monolith GTX is a very light, very comfortable crampon-compatible alpine and trekking boot.Constructed using abrasion-resistant velour leather and 'Dropstop' textile, the Monolith GTX is both flexible and supportive, thanks to Mammut's Motion Control technology - the cushioning Hybrid Shell providing good support exactly where it’s needed.
Mammut's Base Fit technology uses free-sliding bands to transfer the force of the lacing to the sole, adapting to the anatomy of the foot and boosting the pressure on the big toe for precision footwork.
Rounding out this full-featured boot are a fully waterproof, highly breathable GORE-TEX® Performance Comfort Footwear membrane, a high-grip Vibram® Teton sole and a fully adjustable 3-zone lacing system.

Bought these boots for the full price earlier last year and have just got them out of the box (brand new) for the guiding season in Iceland this summer. I have now been guiding in these boots for 44 days. The front of the boot has worn through, the rubber has worn away and a buckle has allready snapped off. They were a waste of money compared to the Scarpa Cumbre boots i guided in for over a year before they fell apart. I wish i had saved my money and bought a different brand of boot! I thought i would give these a try as it had a slimmer fit. Its a shame as they do fit my feet well, but have not even lasted half of the guiding season.
I purchased these boots for Mt. Rainier climb and winter scrambles around Washington State. I was surprised how well these boots fit right out of the box. I owned La Sportiva Trango boots before which were not a good fit for my narrow low volume feet and even after several years of use, they kept giving me blisters.
The Monoliths soon became the boots of choice for all of my outings. After the planned Rainier climb, I took them on ample of trips, including long day hikes/snowshoes of up to 15 miles, scrambles both winter and summer, multi day backpacking with load of about 25-30 lb, and a 2-week trek of Alta Via 2 route in Italy.
They are stiff but extremely comfortable and provide great ankle support and stability. I tested them on variety of terrain, dirt, scree, rock, water crossings, snow both fresh and consolidated, and their performance is superb.
I now have about 500 miles on them and so far they held up great. I managed to bump into a rock on a via ferrata route which chipped one of the hooks for the lace but apart of it they show a little wear and are still very waterproof.
These are great boots, very comfortable and supportive although I normally take a size 5 and had to get a 6 as the sizing for these boots come up small.
Very unhappy with the quality of these boots. When i purchased them I thought I was buying a hard-wearing and well made boot.
However, after using them for a total of around 8 weeks in Scotland I had worn holes in the front of both of the boots and they let in water. The rubber at the front of the boots is insufficient to protect against the inevitable scuffing that happens when walking over rough and stony ground. I have read similar reviews from other users who have had the same problem with these boots.
Boots that leak are worse than useless and I will now discard these and buy a new pair from another manufacturer. I would definitely not recommend them.
