Info
The Hi Gear Caplan 5 has all the space and convenience you need for a group camping holiday.
It's pitched outer-first to keep things simple, and has a breathable inner to keep you comfortable in the summer heat.
The outer flysheet, with taped seams, is easily waterproof enough to handle heavy downpours, while front and side entrances let you block the wind and rain from getting in.
The fully sewn-in groundsheet makes it easy for you to keep a clear, clean space for you and your gear, and keeps water, draughts and bugs out of your tent.
For extra stability, the tent uses Hi Gear's revolutionary pole bracing system, which keeps tension constant in the guylines, while allowing you to attach the guy at any level - not just to the floor, but to any nearby surface, at any angle - so it will pitch anywhere easily, and stay stable.
A perfect tent for an easy stay in the outdoors.

A great all round tent, 20 September 2011

We bought this tent last year in the sale and have just enjoyed our first full seasons camping. It is a great tent for a couple with the large bedroom and plenty of space to sit/eat etc. The integral groundsheet was a big selling point, keeping out draughts, wet and creatures, also making it more stable. As with other reviews, we are at a loss as to why the side door is not as secure as the front but hope to rectify the draught problem with some stick on velcro.
Easy to put up, even alone, about 20/30 mins. also easy to pack up and get back into the bag.
It has withstood thunder storms, heavy rain and wind and blazing sunshine, (sometimes all on the same day lol), it had no leaks and stood it's ground with no problems at all. The only issue we have encountered is having to close the door as soon as it rains as it comes straight in due to the angle of the door.
Having got bored with waiting for the rock 5 canopy (which we were informed would fit) to finally arrive, and after much deliberation we bought the Kalahari 6 Porch which fits very well onto the front of the Caplan 5, solving the problem of the rain coming in the open door and giving a separate cooking/ wet gear storage area. It makes the living space in the tent twice as big, we had 4 adults on large chairs sit comfortably during a heavy shower. It has made a great tent perfect and we are really pleased with both the tent, and the addition of the porch!

I bought this tent as an experiment to see if camping would be a good idea with my 13 year old daughter ,as we have 2 puppies and liked the idea of the flexibility of camping with them.
This tent has stood upto torrential downpours every time we have put it up , even in June it rained every night for 2 weeks . apart from the previous comments made about the side door , this is an exelcent tent with loads of space for the 2 of us and our puppies , I would not like to fit 5 people into it as it would be cramped.

Bought this ten about 18 months ago when in a sale. Have used it a number of times in the UK where it was fine.
Have just used it continuouslyfor 4 months in Europe. Had every type of weather from torrential rain to hot sun and the tent never let us down or allow water in. Its easy to erect, about 20 mins, and has plenty of space inside for two or three people. 5 would be a push.
The side door does need improving as others have said also the grounsheet is very thin which is ok on grass but needs an undersheet on many bare continental pitches.
This has been an excellent buy and has exceeded my expectations
