Berghaus Hillwalker GTX, 03 April 2017
By Ian (Lincoln)
Very comfortable, lightweight and waterproof. But within 8 months and after only 1000 miles walking the soles and heels had worn out. Expected better durability. Come with "lifetime" guarantee - but Berghaus said mine was normal wear and tear !
A great walking boot, 28 March 2017

I bought these boots for a recent trip to Norway. They were very comfortable and kept my feet warm.
Excellent comfort, wait to see how they wear, 22 March 2017

I had a pair of the orginal Brasher Hillmasters, and they lasted 20 years! They needed replacing because the soles were worn smooth. I tried a number of different boots but nothing was as immediately comfortable as these. They fit my feet, so that's why I bought them. So far, so good, very comfortable and no breaking in at all. However, they are clearly made to a price, and are not in the same league of quality as the orginals. The tongue and inner lining round the heel are mesh, not leather, and it remains to be seen how that wears. Having said that, I think I paid £90 20 years ago, so for the same quality they'd probably be £200 now, but maybe they should offer 2 quality levels.
Also, the staff at Go Outdoors are very variable. One or two are knowledgeable and helpful, but a lot aren't. I needed size 11 and in one store the guy cam back and said he had 9 or 12½ and were they any use! Make sure you know what you need to look for.

Great boot should of bought a 91/2 as they are a small size 9 so beware, it means I have to wear thin socks
I was however disappointed to find out they were made in China
Garbage-DO NOT BUY, 17 December 2016
By Chris (Shildon)
I used to buy cheap walking boots from the original factory shop for around £25 which would easily last me a couple of years and only replaced them when I fancied a change and not because of problems. My mother treated me to a pair of these in may for my birthday and I was over the moon. I have been walking in them maybe 6 times and they are absolutely awful. If you look at the heel the sole of the boot on nearly all boots extends up the boot for support but these are balanced on top, the result of which when your walking your feet slide to the side of the boot and you literally fall off the sides!. I have come to Edinburghfor the weekend and brought them but even getting further train station to the hotel last night was so uncomfortable I am going to have to go and buy new shoes this morning. This is not what I expected from 6 month old expensive walking boots from a specialist walking manufacturer.
