Garbage-DO NOT BUY, 17 December 2016
By Chris (Shildon)
I used to buy cheap walking boots from the original factory shop for around £25 which would easily last me a couple of years and only replaced them when I fancied a change and not because of problems. My mother treated me to a pair of these in may for my birthday and I was over the moon. I have been walking in them maybe 6 times and they are absolutely awful. If you look at the heel the sole of the boot on nearly all boots extends up the boot for support but these are balanced on top, the result of which when your walking your feet slide to the side of the boot and you literally fall off the sides!. I have come to Edinburghfor the weekend and brought them but even getting further train station to the hotel last night was so uncomfortable I am going to have to go and buy new shoes this morning. This is not what I expected from 6 month old expensive walking boots from a specialist walking manufacturer.

Started well but leak after 9 months, 27 November 2016
By Nick H (Romsey)
They were great to start with, but in under a year they leak, leaving my feet wet whenever I go through wet grass. Takes a little while to soak through, but usually soaking by the end off a walk.
Worse still, rather than exchanging, they have to be sent off to be checked by Berghaus which I am told takes about 3 weeks. Thius means no boots for 3 weeks and I will have to buy more to tide me over whilst Berghaus decide what they will do. All rather poor.
Perhaps that is why the price has gone down since I bought mine.
Berghaus Hillwalker Gtx11, 10 November 2016
By Hillwalker (Altrincham)
I was really pleased when i got these boots they were so comfortable but now 12months later the sole has come away from the boot and now lets in water. The staff in the footwear dept were really helpful and sent the boots back to Berghaus to be examined.I got a phone call today from Go outdoors saying they were really sorry but Berghaus wont replace the boots because its wear and tear. 12 months is pretty poor for a pair of boots.
Not impressed, 23 October 2016
By Stewart (Andover)
Bought them a few months back and the soles are coming off on both boots, they've only been used for dog walking.
They're going back, I expected better from a berghaus/brasher amalgamation.
I won't be wanting a direct replacement, I've lost all faith.
Mixed feelings, 16 September 2016
By GT (Stockport)
This is a perfectly good boot at the price, but if you're replacing your five year old Brashers (as I was) then you'll probably be disappointed by the comparison. They look like Brashers, and they're reasonably comfortable but there have clearly been compromises to keep down the price. Most obviously, no longer a Vibram sole. The replacement feels noticeably less robust on rougher terrain. There also seems to have been less attention to detail when attaching the sole too. There were one or two areas where excess glue had oozed out, and one or two tiny gaps between leather and rubber in other places.
Next, I'm not a fan of 'Nubuck' type finish leather, and although this might just seem like personal taste, my doubts about its water repellance were strengthened the first time the boots got seriously wet. No suggestion of wet feet, but the toe-ends of both boots ended up looking rather like fingers that had been in the bath too long! This mostly went away as they dried, but not entirely. A judicious coat of wax will no doubt prevent a recurrence, and also get rid of that Nubuck "suedey" look at the same time.
I started off giving this review three stars but have reconsidered and upped it to four, as it is indeed a perfectly acceptable boot at the price in GO, but it's not as outstandingly good as its Brasher predecessor, which would have got five stars!
One final thing, to get the same comfortable instep and heel fit I had with the old pair, I ended up buying the womens fit! Has the template changed?
