I used this net over my bedchair (camp bed) without any other covering (no tent, bivvy etc) & it kept the mosquitos away... well from biting me, I could still hear them trying to get through the net to me so still had the annoying buzzing sound... however you can't have it all! I would highly recommend using this, much better option than inhaling toxic Mossi coils that are also toxic to wildlife/fish etc..
