After no more tha 30 miles on easy terrain I have the following faults.Interment whining from front bearing.Derailleurs jump out of top gears even after adjustment.Crankshaft broke.
I recently purchased this bike from the Hull store last summer, and I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, it's a good entry-level bike that offers good value for money, especially when it's on sale. However, there are a few issues that I think are worth noting.
First, the geometry of the bike gives you a bit of a long reach, so if you're between sizes, I would suggest going for the smaller option. Second, the handlebar is quite small, and I would recommend upgrading it with a wider bar for a more comfortable ride. Additionally, the fork is less than entry-level, with only a one-sided preload adjuster, and the gear is entry-level, which means you could get better quality on other bikes within the same price range.
Another issue I encountered was with the mechanical Tektro disc brakes, which were challenging to adjust. I found myself having to retune the derailleur after almost every ride, which was frustrating. Recently, I noticed that the rear cassette is wobbling and moving from side to side, even though it's tightened to the manufacturer specifications. This has affected the shifting accuracy, and I now have to retune the derailleur almost every time I ride.
Unfortunately, when I contacted the store staff, they claimed that the cassette wobbling is normal, which I don't agree with. So now, I have two options: pay to fix the rear cassette at another bike shop, even though it's still under warranty, or continue riding it the way it is and deal with the poor shifting and the time spent on retuning it every weekend.
Overall, I would say that this bike is a good entry-level option, but it does have its flaws. The frame is well-built and sturdy, but the handlebar, fork, and gear could all be improved. The Tektro disc brakes can be challenging to adjust, and the wobbling rear cassette is a significant issue. If you're looking for an affordable bike and don't mind making a few upgrades, then this could be a good option for you. However, if you want a bike that's ready to ride straight out of the box, then I would suggest looking elsewhere
I purchased the bike today and went out for a 5 mile ride with my 9 year old, mostly on the road but with a little off road. Very impressed with bike and with the service received from Go Outdoors.
The bike is as expected in quality for the price and in comparison to others. The sizing is slightly confusing as we ordered a M in belief that was 27.5 inch wheel but we received 29 inch??
