How long do running shoes last?

While dependent on the individual brand or collection, it is generally agreed within the community that a good quality pair should be able to take you at least over the 300-mile line, with those on the more durable end managing up to 500 miles. Of course, don't ignore the signs if they seem to be deteriorating before these milestones: wear and tear on the sole or midsole, more blisters than typical, lack of support, running feeling harder - any of these could be an indication that your current pair need replacing.

How should my running shoes fit?

Generally, it is recommended to go a half size up from your normal size to combat swelling, blisters, black toenails, ect. However, try to avoid shoes that are way too big, as this will cause your feet to slide, which can lead to falling and more severe injury.

How should I wash my shoes?

It is better to handwash than to throw your shoes into the washing machine (which risks shrinking them and causing fit issues). Take out the insoles and laces to clean separately. Gently scrubbing dirt away with a scrub brush mixed with warm soap will help to maintain the structural integrity of each shoe. It is better to air dry; you can leave paper towels inside to absorb some of the moisture.
