Like others say, very waterproof, but after 10 minutes you’ll be damp inside as it’s not breathable at all. Get something better
Bought specifically for DoE. Each time it has been worn, my son got soaked.
Not waterproof or not breathable?

Disappointing from Berghaus who used to sell good stuff
Great quality
This jacket isn't lined. It'll do, but not impressed by it.
Worth the money
Brought this as a light waterproof coat but everytime you wear it you get soaking inside the coat. Not at all breathable. Have bought Berghaus before but will not buy again.
Looks great & was very waterproof when using the 1st time along Hadrian's wall when it was lashing down. Turns out i was just as wet on the inside due to not being the slightest bit breathable. Poor
Bought this jacket to take on holiday knowing the weather was going to be wet , needed it to be light for packing . Jacket did not disappoint rain 5 days out of 7. Kept me dry and warm light to use .
Just watched an hour of my lads football in the pouring rain. Jacket kept me bone dry. Will likely sweat on the inside if you are doing anything physical but fine for day to day use .
Utter rubbish dont waste your money
Used this on a weekend walking session in the Lakes and it proved its worth in an excellent way both in comfort, wind proof and was effective in the wet weather we encountered. It's value was first class and it met all the expectations one expects and I would recommend this product to those who enjoy the outdoors whether it be walking cycling as I used it today to good effect.
Great product and thank you
If you can pick one of these up for the discount price tour in for a winner. Good quality light weight waterproof that keeps the rain off. Wouldn't be much good on its own when it gets cold but works well in summer or over a warm layer.
Very disappointing. Failed during heavy rain on two walks in Scotland in November. By the end of both walks the inside of the jacket was completely wet through. Go Outdoors sent it away for testing by Berghaus who reported that the jacket was waterproof. Therefore I did not get a refund. If the jacket really was waterproof as claimed by Berghaus then the fact it was completely wet inside could only be due to poor breathability. Either way my experience suggests the jacket is quite useless.
I wore this jacket in torrential rain with strong wind in the Lake District but it didn’t keep me completely dry. Probably good in normal rain conditions.
Have used this jacket on two walking holidays in the Peak District and has not let me down.
On cold, very wet days with a thin base-layer on it kept me more than warm enough and bone dry. Didn't have any issue with the pockets letting in water if you keep them zipped up. Breathability not great on a warm day but nowhere near as bad as some make out. A quick wash with Nikwax and it performs like new.
For the price you cant beat it.
I bought this for my husband and he's really happy with it. He had an old waterproof that was half the price but it didn't breath and he got sweaty in it. He loves this one, says it is comfy and I think it looks good (as much as a waterproof is going to). It's mostly used for family walks etc....not for serious hikes in all weathers.
The claim that the jacket is made of breathable fabric is exaggerated. I've worn it a few times in the rain and the inside has been damp and sweaty. Its ok for shopping though, but far too expensive for the performance. I dread to think how it may perform in cold weather.
Look, it's not a lot of money for a waterproof jacket. It ain't going to be as good as a £200 jacket - get real. If you want something that you slip-on when it rains, something with a good hood, something light and packable, and something that's well made and looks OK to walk into a pub or restaurant in - buy it.
Terrible jacket. Might be waterproof but poor ventilation means your body heat and sweat will make the inside wet anyway. Do yourself a favour and pick up a golf jacket from Sports Direct for less, it does the job much better.
Has held up well under heavy rain and hood can be tightened up around face in high wind and rain. However often damp and cold on the inside which is fine if wearing a fleece but otherwise unpleasant.
