A popular dome tent that's ideal for weekends away with family or friends.

Hi Gear's Gobi 4 Elite is a semi-geodesic dome style tent, with crossed-over fibreglass poles that keep it stable even in very windy weather.

It has a large front door and 2 additional side doors for easy access and ventilation, and a fully sewn-in groundsheet that keeps out draughts, rain and insects.

The two large front windows have roll-up curtains so you can let light in or keep your privacy, and front enclosed mesh vents also aid ventilation while keeping bugs out.

The inner bedroom is made from breathable polyester, with multiple central tent tidy pockets that give you ample storage space so your tent stays tidy.

Plenty of storage space in the front porch means you can keep muddy boots and gear safely away from your sleeping kit, or stash your furniture in there if it rains. There's an access point for any electrical cable hook-ups, and tent tidies help you to keep cables and gear out of the way.

It's a comfortable, secure and versatile tent for weekends away with the family, or groups of festival-goers who want to sleep in comfort.

There are two versions of this tent available ('EMERALD' and 'EMERALD GREEN'),  the EMERALD version has a thinner grey stripe along the lower edge, to match the new EMERALD version of the porch.

Ha ha ha hardwork to pitch up tent Not

I recently read a review about pitching gobi. All I can say is myself and 9 year old daughter can pitch the gobi in about 15mins from start to finish. And about 30mins on my own . Top notch

Rubbish poles

None of the poles were connected with the elastic. All fell out onto the ground and no instructions as to how many go in each part of the tent 2hours wasted putting. Not impressed good job the weather

DO NOT BUY

This tent is great for space. However the second it rains say goodbye to being dry. Had to cut our holiday short. Absolutely fuming mad. Tent straight in the bin. And going home

the best tent we have ever owned

IN a nutshell this tent is the best tent we have ever owned. We have used it several times it’s plenty big enough for 2 adults and our dog. We’ve used it in all weathers you won’t be disappointed !

Excellent tent

Bought this tent two years ago, and it’s about time I added my review. It has stood the test of time. A few windy weekends too! This was the first fully sewn in tent we’ve bought, and it had made a massive difference. Hardly any bugs and it keeps the highland midge out too - what a difference. I couldn’t put it up on my own, but can always find someone willing to help. It only takes about 20mins. Wind and waterproof. All of the zips have held up well (in all of our previous tents after a year or two weak spots start to develop - not yet in the Gobi Elite). Love the option of the three doors. The windows are large. The poles come in a pole protector bag. A great purchase, 2 years on it’s still in great condition (as it should be). Just wish I’d bought it years ago. Would recommend a tent carpet and after laughing endlessly at friends who had a blow up sofa, we bought one too (zero chance of it puncturing the groundsheet) - it was a great addition. The tent can easily fit a double blow up bed and a single blow up for our wee girl beside us.

Fantastic

Me and my partner bought this tent from go outdoors in june we worked all over the country at horse shows county fairs and the best one festivals, this tent was our home for the best part of 4 months travelling to each location used every day no issues with leaks or putting up got it down to a t only taking 15 minutes, would recommend this product, it really is good value for money!

A great strong tent

After a shaky start when the tent initially leaked during a bit of rain in the lakes, the tents seams expanded and filled in properly (GO advised that would happen) meaning that the tent completely sealed. Last weekend in Snowdonia we were at the mercy of a huge thunderstorm during the night with the most intense rain I have ever seen, it did not leak once and kept us DRY! The tent has a large living area with a good sized sleeping area. Only myself and my partner use this as we wanted a lot of space to create a home from home wherever we go.

Absolutely amazing

I bought this tent a few months ago and have used it most weekends. It takes about 20 mins to put up. I must admit I haven't done it on my own yet but with two people it's a breeze. Once the two longer poles are in if one goes inside the tent and holds the poles up while the other fixes them in their ends that makes life easier.
I often camp with just me and my dog but have also had a trip with my mum and three children. Plenty of bedroom space and lots of ventilation and storage features. The three doors also make it light and airy and options for various setups.
A recent week in Norfolk saw tremendous storms but this tent stood well and had no issues. The stability the dome has over the tunnel design is second to none. In fact if these reduce in price any further I may buy another. Wouldn't swap it for anything else and can fault it at all.

Great little time spent out in the country

Fabric good stronger than I expected. Having use of the pockets for the storage and the torch does take the hassle out of finding things in the darkness. Happy with the groundsheet as well as the windows and venting.

Wow!

My husband and I have had many tents over the years and the 2 things I look for when buying one for time away together is standing height and windows. Up till now we've had 2 berth tents which were slightly crowded when bad weather forces you to stay inside. So I persuaded him to buy a 3 berth tent. This is a fabulous tent. It took us 15 mins to get it up and all the gear inside and the kettle on. From getting out of bed to driving off the site took us 1 hour 10 mins. It's a very easy tent to erect and dismantle. The windows are very large, the door has a fly screen which is lovely for breezy conditions too as you can have the door open but the mesh keeps a lot of wind out. The head height was wonderful and the edges of the sewn-in ground sheet didn't curl up causing stuff to creep into the centre of the living area. The only odd thing is the central pole comes in 3 parts of 2 sizes, but once you realise that it's meant to be like that and there wasn't a bit missing or wrong you can stop panicking and enjoy your holiday. Strongly recommended for a couple. Lovely tent.

Great tent

My hubby myself and our westie have now used this tent 4 times and we find it fantastic . It has lots of bedroom space a great living space enough for two / three chairs a table fridge storage cupboard and the usual stuff you take camping .. The pockets added to the bedroom wall are really handy . We bought the carpet and would throughly recommend .. We had quite heavy rain this last weekend and the tent didn't leak once ??. The only thing I can find wrong with tent is the instructions it says it comes with 5 poles but there is actually 4 .

Five star tent??

We've had the Gobi Elite for two years now and used it about 4 times now in all kinds of weather. We have just returned from an Easter Weekend in Glen Nevis with torrential rain and gales and the tent didn't let in rain or blow away ??
It's very spacious for two people and holds everything you need for a trip away. I particularly like the sitting area with Windows all along the front and the bedroom holds two quite large beds easily. A gem of a tent and would recommend.

Hi gear Gobi elite 4

We bought this tent in April and would definitely recommend it. We've had a mixture of weather, from a heatwave to driving rain and gale force winds! The tent has never let us down. It's a resounding 5 stars from us :-)

Easy to put up and kept us dry in a storm

Bought this tent two weeks ago, it was delivered the next day and we used it last weekend. Very easy to put up, took my daughter (5yrs) and I 20mins to erect, could have done with another pair of hands to push the dome up, but it wasn't too much of a hassle. It rained heavily the second night and kept everything dry. When you open the door it's designed so that the rain pours down the side rather into the tent. Bought the footprint which kept the base clean. Lots of space for three people, for four you'd need to know each other. Would recommend it.

Really good tent

We have recently bought the Gobi elite 4 from go outdoors and are very happy with our purchase the green colour did'nt put us off the tent has good instructions stitched into the bag and comes with colour coded poles initially if you peg down all four corners and then add the two larger criss cross poles first then the front and middle. One of us then went inside of the tent and then started to peg the poles in whilst the tent is slightly lifted to make it easier starting with the criss cross poles and then the middle and front with the 2nd person. It comes with a spacious bedroom area was big enough for 3 camp beds and the suitcase maybe a little snug for a fourth a spacious living area for 2 adults and one child with fully sewn in groundsheet. The 3 doors also help for preference for which one you use we decide depending on what's going to be easier! Only had slight dampness on the sewn in seam easily fixable though. Easy enough to take down and managed to fit it all back in the bag aswell. Held up to rain, wind, thunder and lightning .Happy campers very happy with purchase and can't wait to go again!!

Great tent, poor poles

We have had a Gobi 4 (predecessor of the gobi 4 elite) for 6 years. Looking at the elite at Go Outdoors, it seems to be exactly the same except for a few relatively minor changes, and ours has withstood some pretty extreme weather from Cape Wrath down to North Devon, only ever leaking once (in strong winds on Orkney when a pole section had split without us noticing it).

It is a great tent, the only problem is the poor quality poles (which is why I have only given it 4 stars). Now the tent is getting on a bit, we seem to split two or three sections every time we take it out.

In my opinion this should not deter anyone from buying the tent, but some simple precautions should be taken to minimise pole splits:

Resist the temptation to just drop the pole bag on the ground, particularly hard surfaces, when setting up - this seems to be the cause of some of the splits.

Wrapping two turns of duck tape tightly around each end of the pole just above the ferrule/just above where the ferrule sits seems to help prevent splits.

Always check the poles after each trip and replace broken sections (we now take a couple of spares of both 13mm and 11 mm sections pre-cut to size with us so we can repair on-site if we have to)

When sections do split, we now replace them with Outwell replacement poles, which seem to be better quality than Hi-Gear replacements.

Two final tip - we peg out the bottom groundsheet first before we erect the flysheet. We then match the centre of the flysheet to the centre of the ground sheet before we peg out the flysheet. Doing this means that we can pitch the tent straight in under 30 minutes, even in high wind.

We also pitch the front of the tent (main door) into the prevailing wind. We find that this reduces the amount of shaking and draught we get in sleeping compartment in stormy conditions.

Great tent

Bought this tent a few months ago but only got to use it for the first time last week. Done the practice build in my garden first as didn't want to look like a fool on the campsite building it for the first time! As stated in other reviews, you definitely need a second person to help by raising the centre of the tent to get the curve on the poles. It took about 30 mins to have it fully built although it was windy and raining when I was doing it. We (2 adults, one child) spent 2 nights in the tent and never had any problems. First night we had rain and not a problem. The 2nd night was windy and again, not a single problem. We have the carpet for this tent and we put it in the bedroom as not really sure which section it's really meant for. We had other picnic rugs for the front section so didn't really make much of a difference. The tent carpet was great in the bedroom. Nice feeling under foot after a day wearing wellies! We have since bought poles to use the front door as an awning. Perhaps Hi Gear could have chucked them in for free!

Overall, a great tent. Top tip for packing it away in its bag, unzip the 3 front doors and roll it from the back. It lets the air escape and makes it easy to get back in its bag.

Perfect for tall peeps!

We were looking for a good quality tent that would give us a more comfortable camping experience. Between us we are 6 foot 6 and 6 foot tall and wanted a tent that we could both stand up in, a sleeping compartment which was long enough to sleep in without touching both end walls but without a significantly larger footprint. We've had this tent for over a year and it has performed brilliantly so far. The second time we put it up it only took 10 minutes. Just put all the poles through the colour coded sleeves before you erect it. You do need two people.

Great tent

My husband and I bought this tent for our 1st camping trip together and cannot fault it, the weekend we choose to go away had the most horrendous weather, it lashed rain and had really strong winds but this tent withstood the elements perfectly. I would have no problem recommending this tent to anyone, I would however say that the pegs bend easy so invest in some stronger one's.
