A roomy, sturdy family tent with generous headroom and plenty of space for up to eight campers and all their gear
The Hi Gear Kalahari 8 Eclipse is a spacious, stable and comfortable tunnel-style tent with two large partitionable bedrooms in a face-to-face layout, roomy enough for you, your family and all your gear.
The bedrooms comfortably sleep four at each end of the tent, in 2+2 inners with breathable polyester walls. They're made using darkened 'Eclipse' fabric that blocks out daylight, keeping it cool and dark inside so you get a better night's sleep. The bedrooms can also be removed, to give you extra storage space, or room for dirty gear.
Hi Gear Eclipse' bedrooms use light-blocking fabric so you get a better, longer night's sleep - no more unwanted early mornings because of the bright dawn light!
The large living space has two large windows and hanging storage pockets to help keep it tidy, organised and liveable. Multiple vents along the roof help air flow throughout the tent.
The sewn-in groundsheet couples with the fire-retardant polyester flysheet give you a ventilated interior that's completely protected from draughts and downpours. The two doors can prop and extend out for extra shelter, or to expand your relaxation space.
Other useful features include the water-repellent zips and dual electrical cable access points. Pre-attached high-visibility guylines, reduced pole sleeves, and the sewn-in groundsheet make pitching quick and easy.
(Note: this video was made for the previous version of this tent, so does not feature the Eclipse bedrooms)
The Kalahari Eclipse 8 comes in two bags, one for the flysheet and one for the poles, to make it easier to carry on and off the campsite. Bag 1: 68cm x 31cm x 31cm (10.82kg) Bag 2: 68cm x 23cm x 23cm (13.42kg)
Tent is sufficient but experience could have been better
I bought the Kalahari eclipse 8 from your erdington store last year and have had nothing but problems, last year I was only given the rooms but thankfully that was sorted last year when I had to come all the way back from our camp site to collect the tent etc and this year we have had leakage and a tear in the ground sheet/tent floor. From the money I paid for this tent I was expecting it to last way more than a year and the best part is that it's been used once previous to this time and been caught in this horrid rain and its leaking through the door zips. Is this a common issue? I would have never have wasted my money on this if it is.

What is a great tent is let down by the poor quality flimsy poles - an opinion which I have seen elsewhere. The first pole erected split, leaving me having to repair with tape. No spares in GO?

Brilliant for families
The Kalahari 8 is a brilliant tunnel tent. We purchased the Eclipse version to replace our ageing Zenobia 6. For a family of four and simple to erect, it's an absolute steal. We recommend this tent.

Great family tent
Purchased for family (parents + 1 x M & 1 x F teen). Couldn't be happier. Plenty big enough with private rooms for the teens on cot beds. For 8 adults you would need roll mats and to sleep on floor.

A must buy and cheap
This product is very cheap so I was apprehensive to buy it. But I am very surprised at the quality of it! It withstood extremely strong wind and was very easy to pitch. The blackout in the bedrooms were awesome at keeping little people asleep until a bit later! Would recommend this product highly! :)

We have been camping for 5 years now and two previous tents were second hand in good enough order. I must say this tent is amazing compared to them. It is so versatile and adaptable. With 4 bedrooms which can be made into 2 or two made into a living area. So spacious that I wish we had bought it sooner.

* Man tunnel tent Kalahari
Test drove last week and was roomy and easy to put up.
bedrooms are the best part and feel like you are late risers when your room is still dark at 10am!

Simply easy to put up. This tent was our step on from Vango Icarus 5 man.
Still easy to get up and LOADS of room for sitting inside. The black out pods are a nice touch.
Money well spent when it rained, and rained, and rained in Wales. Dry as a bone.. This would get 5 stars if there was a “hood” over the doors to stop water running off, over you as you unzip in the. morning.

Shame good tent otherwise
Bought the tent and set it up at home, as worried about previous review and pin holes. All seemed ok but was not setup with all the pegs in so not stretched out fully. However once away on holiday pin holes appeared straight away and just kept getting bigger as the days passed ended up with about 20 holes, also the porch pole broke on first use! Although the poles are not covered in the warranty. I would definitely erect the tent and maybe leave overnight to check for holes otherwise you may have an issue when you try to return the item. Basildon branch were very understanding and were spot on with customer service no fault there. Maybe there is a bad batch of these, my last hi gear is still in great shape 7 years on, but this one didn't last 2 weeks! The eclipse bedrooms are also very good.

Excellent family tent
We are a family of 4 + 2 dogs, and got this tent completely out of the blue as we had a few days off together and thought it would be nice to get away for a few days, without any gadgets and do something different. (Went a few times as a kid then as a teenager going to festivals) and at £300 from go outdoors it offered very good value.
The tent was easy enough to put up, especially with my wife who is not afraid to read the instructions. Inside was huge, and enough room to stand up throughout. The bedrooms offered plenty of legroom. On our first night in the new forest, a passing cow spooked the kids (11 & 9) who then both decided to share with us and the dogs. The blackout feature was fantastic and we were really able to get a proper sleep and not awoken by early morning sunrise. There is plenty of storage both in the middle bit and the bedrooms. The only downside was a lack of anywhere to hang a light in the bedrooms (although there is one in the middle bit)
We only had a very light shower so couldn't properly comment about its weather resistance, but looked sturdy enough. There is plenty of ventilation and we had no issues of condensation. Packing away was easy (after cleaning it out)
Very pleased with the purchase and look forward to using again. It goes without saying it wouldn't be the type of thing you take hiking or to a festival, but as a family tent you can park up and pitch, i doubt you could get much better for the money.

Great family tent
Took our family tent camping for the third time . This trip the tent was put to the test as the first night we were hit by a three hour storm of winds of up to 70MPH . The tent blew around for hours and I was sure it was going to break as there were tents collapsing around us but it stood it’s ground and kept us warm and dry . We highly recommend this tent and there is plenty of space for a family of six , not sure I would want a family of eight in there as the two rooms only really fit one double and one single air bed in . ??

Weathered the storm
We pitched this tent a few weeks ago for the first time. As novice campers putting the tent up was an excellent test of our marriage ( thankfully we passed!!)
That night there was a massive torrential thunderstorm; we were all completely dry in the morning, no leaks at all.
Plenty of room for a family of 5.

Nice tent - shame about the quality
Purchased this tent last week for my upcoming holiday. Pitched it this morning in a local park, as advised by the sales staff.
Easy to pitch looked great initially - until we went inside. Lots of pin holes in the tent skin itself, also many pin holes in the taped seams. This would not be water tight if it rained & any strain from wind etc would soon stress the fabric until it tore..
I will be returning the tent to Clydebank store for a refund.
Nice looking tent, easy to pitch but the quality assurance is sadly below the expected standard.

Perfect tent for a family of five!
(Review for older model of this tent - Hi Gear Kalahari Elite 8 Family Tent)<br />Tried lots of tents and this is by far the best. We have 3 kids (two teenagers) and this gives us plenty of space. The central area is perfect when the weather turns. Just ordered the porch to make it perfect.
Easy to pitch but we are still struggling with our technique for putting back in the easy pack bag. We are not finding it easy but that is probably us!!

Hi gear Kalahari eclipse
Good sturdy tent, easy to erect, took us about 10 minutes. Very spacious, blackout pods are great and provide a better camping experience keeping the heat and light of the sun at bay allowing more time to lay in.
Only negative I have is the windows hold the condensation and take longer to dry when packing the tent away.

Just the job
Bought this as we camp often and needed something bigger than we already had. For the price this is a good buy. Plenty of room for a big family. We had good weather when we used it so not sure on how weather proof it is, but is a good sturdy structure and as with any tent if it’s put up right should last. Will be ordering a couple for our scout troop too this summer.
