Decent value for the price poor quality leather.

I'm a dog walker so waterproof boots are imperative or me. The leather in these is poor quality and is coated with some sort of plastic i-shield. It eventually cracks and fails. For me, after 18 month

My Boots

I bought these in August but did not start wearing them until the middle of Sept and after just 90 hours (Approx 180 miles) use the leather is starting to split, crack and flake off. I am returning them today, very disappointed.

Hi Gear walking boots

so far, so good!.I wanted a reasonable pair of leather walking boots, as I find that most of these 'modern' boots draw my feet, because of the man-made materials used. The assistant was very helpful and after much trying and after much testing and 'walking' around the store, settled on these. I have yet to find any (lowish priced) boot that does not have stitching down the side or heel area, such as the boots that I bought many years ago up North, that were Italian and lasted for years. At the moment, I have not done any serious walking in these, mainly as a 'heavy' day boot on tarmac. The test will come once I can get the time to go walking with my sis-in-law and her dog, over more rough, wet, muddy terrain, when I can then see how they perform. One pair of these that I tried on were not as good a fit as the ones that I purchased, evne though the same size. It seemed as if the stud on the lace hole was pressing into the foot and would have caused blistering and discomfort on a walk. Size 8 fitted excellently, but were a little tight even though my feet were warm I settled for the size 9 and wear wool socks with a thin sock as a liner. I haven't worn walking boots for years,so I do find them a bit 'clunky' at the moment. Seem to be a fairly well-made boot. Time will tell!

Disappointed, sore and wet

I brought these based on the reviews and thought I’d spend a bit more than the cheap pair I had before, so I was expecting good things.
However... after less than 200 miles of walking and proper care the are about as waterproof as a sieve, the leather appears to be coming away from the sole and worst of all the heel space, padding and stitching line in the right heel is lumpy and much different to the left. So much so that I’m now in agony with a heavily blistered heel, so bad in fact that I had to resort to duct taping part of a bandage in the heel as well as applying the usual blister plasters. I’ve not had any blisters before in any boot despite having walked some of the worlds most challenging trails. Hugely disappointed with what should have been an easy purchase.

A very good, inexpensive boot

I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a pair of boots for my son, he needed something waterproof leather & comfy. Felt great when he tried them on in the shop. He then went walking on Dartmoor the same day. Boots are comfortable & waterproof with a good grip. A great starter boot, cleaned up no nice, have treated with waterproofer as well...

A very good buy!

These are very good boots for walking about! They are very comfy, fairly water resistant and you can really feel the padded insole and inside! The leather as a decent scruff resistance and easy to clean and maintain. When you put them on you literally grow an inch and rubber soles have a good grip.

Comfortable & sturdy

So much more comfortable than any others I tried. Have used for everyday dog walking and occasional day walks over mud, marsh, snow, ice, scree and bog. Soles are great giving plenty of grip and giving confidence of a solid footing. Waterproofing has held well so far with warm dry feet through all conditions. Only drawback are the laces which are a bit fiddly to secure tightly over the bridge of your foot. I've torn the tie slightly which secures them in the middle hence the drop of a star.

Hi-tec boots

Extremely comfortable, easy to take care of and brilliant value for money.

Very comfortable

I have wide feet and a tendency to ingrowing toenails, but these boots are comfortable for all-day use without any breaking in. The uppers tend to scuff, suggesting a thin coating is being scraped off - but hopefully this won't affect the performance, and can be covered with a suitable polish or treatment. Generally very happy so far.

Hi-Tec boots

I didn’t want to spend a fortune on boots, but wanted something waterproof, leather & comfy. Felt great when I tried them on in the shop. We went walking in the Brecon Beacons the very same day. Boots are extremely comfortable & waterproof. What really impressed me is the grip. Great starter boot & I’d definitely recommend them for the price.

Exceptionally comfortable

They were good when I tried them on in store but once out on the open road the sole was springy and supportive. I have done 30-40 miles in them so far on terrains ranging from London streets to Peak District hills, and they really do hug the feet. Just need to watch that the laces pull through enough, and the tongue is sitting comfortably, but after that, you are golden.

Great boots

1st time in Go Outdoors and I found some lovely boots cheaper than these at first.

I tried them on and found them to be a little tight and uncomfortable.

So next to them were these hitec boots in real leather and a awesome Michelin sole.
So I tried these on and wow what a difference for a few pounds more and well worth it. Had these for about 2 weeks now and must of used over 5 times and they are great and water proof and warm I love them.
