Great for a wedding present
Worse than useless......I lost the will after 20 minutes and nothing even to resemble toast. Warm bread!
I have tried this on 3 different stoves and had great results on two if them. The best results came on a Cadac Safari, and was almost toaster quality. All said, a great addition to my camping kitchen.
I was unsure about this item because of the reviews but it’s great. It made the most amazing toast and didn’t take as long as expected.
Got toast in minutes well worth the money
Practically useless - don't waste your time or money - takes AGES to brown the bread which by that time is totally dried out and hard.
Used this with a camping stove. Took forever to even begin to brown the bread. Not something I would recommend unfortunately.
I read some of these other reviews, where they say they didn't get toast. I got toast. Maybe their problem was not the toaster but the stove. It's light and compact. It does 1 to 4 pieces of toast at once, which is good. I guess you might need different techniques if you want toaster quality toast. It's not a toaster but it will get you toast.
Tried all sorts of ways but just ended up with warm bread which felt stale. No toast for us! Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Although when we decided that we were going to use it for anything we straightened out the wires and used them for marshmallows!
Works well, toasts your bread ok if you want a cheaper and smaller alternative for a toaster. Packs down flat we packed it inside our gas grill case.
You do have to watch it and turn the bread but that's expected with the product.
Can be tricky to do 4 slides at the same time but is doable.
I agree with most reviews. Full tilt for 10 mins and no sign of toast.. warm bread yes but toast no.
Straight to bin for me also - back to tongs holding bread over coals...
- straight to bin - do not bother!
Very happy with the toaster, easy to assemble and use. Would recommend to others .
If you want good toast while camping, use the "Bright Spark" toaster -- or pick up the same sort of thing in an outdoor French market. I've been using mine (bought in a French market) for ten years. They rust, but carry on making great toast and warming croissants. Best method is to get it nice and hot, then place the item on the grill and lower the heat (a little for toast, lots for croissants). Turn your the item(s) once, heat the other side, and presto...
Bought for family camping trip - used atop higear 2 ring stove running at full chat on butane. Placed bread on toaster....... 25mins later the bread was succesfully dehydrated to the point it was inedible - as it just turned to dust if you tried to eat it!
Don't understand how there can be so much variiance in peoples experience, but might try drilling out the holes as suggested....
On the plus side it got a fully belly laugh from all of the family!
If you like warm bread? Buy this. If you want Toast? Don't wast your money!
Bought this toaster for our camper. We can now finally enjoy toast in the morning. Worked well in the camper but did take a bit longer than normal. You would need to shield from the wind if used outside.
I want to say I agree with Rob from Swindon, I was very impressed. For the price I felt I may as well try it as there wasn't much to lose.
I used it with a camping gaz Xcelerate double burner stove and got great toast. Perhaps it depends on the stove it's used with, as I don't recognise the negative experiences others have had. I also never camp with electric hook up so have no option to take an electric toaster instead.
All in all a great buy and I'm really pleased. Beans on toast and hot cross buns here we come.
Totally rubbish, takes for too long, the bread was dried and hard with no colour.
