Men's Footwear Size Guide

Measuring tips

Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.

Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.

Remember, feet can expand over a quarter size during a full day's walk so ensure you get the right fit.

Superb quality and comfort

I've had mine for 8/9 years and only just had the soles on both detach from the PU underlayer, which is not unusual after such a time. Meindel resoled them for £85 and now like new again.

Good boot

As all new boots, the more technical they get the more can go wrong! However compared to other boots I have purchased in this price range, they are of good quality, finish and comfortable.

Heel quickly wears down to red sponge & cracks

Leather upper is great. Sole is good & it is a very comfortable boot. However, I was so disappointed that the heel is part sponge and fails v. quickly. Not good! Meindl not customer friendly either.

Ultimate boot perfectly balanced

I had these boots for 5 years now. Good wear and totally waterproof. This boot will take a few miles to break in but the wait is worth it. These are by far the best I've owned. Ive had lots of boots!

I take it all back

4 years ago, I left a glowing report for these boots having worn them a few days.

The best reviews are probably left a little longer so that any problems can be identified.

After about 1,000 miles of reasonable use in the hills, they both split on the same day at the toe-crease and started leaking badly. I’ve had them 4 years, but have various pairs of boots and only use these in spring / autumn while in the hills, so they have probably had about 2 months of sustained use.

I have repeatedly tried speaking to Meindl about this, simply to ask for their opinion, but their customer service is the worst I have ever encountered anywhere.

Quite simply they take your details, then totally refuse to speak to you. Never known anything like it.

They have lost a customer, I’ve just bought Scarpa.

top quality

Had these boots for over 5 years and put them through some very heavy use . They held up fantastically with minor wear and tear, until the sole came away this summer. Great boot that will cover you in pretty much any weather conditions, stiff enough that you can get away with crampons on them.
One comment would be these boots are a little heavy which can be a drawback on longer hikes. However, I have already bought a new pair to replace my last ones.

Appalling buy something else!

Buy something else!

I've had these boots just over a year to replace my pair of Burma Pro's that were fantastic but were coming to the end wear wise.

I was really impressed with the Vakuum boots initially, however I was still using my Burma Pro's for the first year as they had a little life left in them.

Now I've probably done about 150-200miles in them on leisurely walks and the memory foam at the back of my right foot has come loose and rides up leaving the back of my heel resting on a hard surface and the pushed up memory foam sticks out and gives me blisters on ankle. Anything longer than a short dog walk is agony.

I cannot stress how little wear these boots have had and how uncomfortable they now are. From a company such as Meindl I'm honestly gutted. I can only imagine this a manafacturing fault they wont cover under the one year warrenty even though the lack of wear is evident!

Honestly, I'd stay away as you might end up with a £200 pair of paperweight.

Vakuum GTX

My last Meindls lasted about 10 years before both soles detached within 200m of each other at the end of a walk. I purchased the GTXs about a year ago. One very small blister when new, otherwise perfect. Excellent boots.

Hope they last as long as the last pair

This is my 2nd purchase of this brand. Probably the best quality boots in go outdoors. The last pair did 5 years service and are actually still going. But have lost grip and support from daily use. I clean and dub my leather boots regularly and they definitely last. I use these on location for my job and they have been through bog, snow and sand, on my feet for up to 14 hours at a time. Price match was great and had my awkward half size in stock. Love go outdoors for these type of things. Fitting advice and service is great.

Excellent boots

Great fit from scratch comfortable and supportive as for longevity I cannot comment but my last pair of Meindl boots still going after 3 years need a stronger pair for mountain walking and these fit the bill

brilliant boots,...

...but one of the soles on the inside toe section has begun to detach after around 2 years, which has led to the sole partially splitting from the rest of the remaining attached sole. They haven't had a massive amount of difficult terrain - however as a farmer I do wear them basically every day. They are without doubt the most comfortable pair of boots I've ever owned, but having to repair them myself after not that much wear does put me off, particularly as the other sole is perfect still. I would guess a fault with the gluing or the craftsmanship somewhere along the line.

Exceedingly Poor Quality

Purchased first pair , they lasted about 9 months until the rand started falling off both boots . Went back to store , they sent them for repair to their repairers. The repair lasted 2 weeks . The rand started coming adrift again. The boots were then replaced with a brand new pair . These lasted about 16 months the leather on the right hand boot cracked on the side of the toe crease point thus letting water and the rand on both boots showed signs of cracking . Complained to Go-outdoors and was offered a full refund after 2 weeks . The boots were just used for a walking dogs in wet weather in London . The boots were regularly proofed using product recommended by manufacturer . My advice do not buy them if you are walking in woods in North London

Very poor quality for the money

My original pair only lasted a couple of months before I had to return them due to them letting in water. To be fair Meindl replaced them with a new pair. This second pair lasted just over a year, a total of approx. 100-150 hours of walking. The inside lining at the heel has completely worn through, causing the boots to rub and cause blisters. At over £200 I expected a harder wearing boot. I will avoid Meindl when buying my replacement pair.

Excellent Boots

The memory foam liner makes such a difference. No need to break in like my previous pair of Meindl boots.

Best I’ve had

I purchased the boots about 2 weeks ago after a lot of research, the staff in the Thurrock store were very helpful in explaining more about the boots without being pushy and the deal was done, I also price checked the boots. I have to say they are worth every penny, I have only completed around 60 mile so far so still need to break in but I am having no trouble with sore feet at all, the boots are strong and have a good grip and I have walked in the rain with no issues, I am totally confident with these boots and can’t wait to start my walks in April, I would highly recommend, also I think the boots look great and have a perfect style, I’m positive I made the right choice.

Very good purchase

I did a lot of research before buying and was recommended these by a ML-qualified friend whose own had lasted may years. Well worth the money - more than 2 years on and well used for hill walking across 4 seasons with no problems. Very comfortable, no leaks, warm in winter conditions and work fine with a Grivel Monta Rosa crampon

Had my Vakuums for just over 12 months and they have been out in blistering heat ; pouring rain and thigh deep snow and they are still going strong.. They do take a while to break in so you will need plasters on heels and toes but bear with it.. Mine have been out most weekends in The Lake District and done the majority of the Wainwright`s.. still a few for me to do to complete them for the second time... The boots are heavier than my Solomon Quest 4D GTX but unlike the Solomons they are still totally waterproof as I wax them regularly with Graingers G wax.. yes it takes off the nubuk look but my boots are for walking not posing in!! The grip is as good as you will get although there is no such thing as a boot that grips perfectly in all terrains The fit around the leg is good so a quick overtopping of the boot in a puddle ; beck or bog doesn`t necessarily mean wet feet. You should take Go Outdoors price check option by searching the internet first for Vakuums at a cheaper rate then Go Outdoors will beat that price by 10%.. I bought mine for about 150 quid... In closing they are a great hard wearing, tough fell walking boot.. they do eventually become very very comfy and I love `em.
