Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.
Remember, feet can expand over a quarter size during a full day's walk so ensure you get the right fit.
The comfort of these shoes are excellent once you have worn them in, however the stitching on both shoes is a major issue, just not good enough considering the high price of the shoes
A quality shoe throughout. I have had no problems with them. But my main reason for praising the shoe is the walking experience. They are comfortable, supportive and offer a very natural gait.
They are a comfortable shoe. However my first pair after a few weeks the sole came apart and were replaced. The second pair the stitching has come apart in the toe box on both shoes. Not worth the money
Had mine for around 4 months and had no problems with them apart from the normal wear and tear on the soles, done circa 750 miles so due another pair. They are really comfortable to wear.
Not had a problem with the sticthing like so many others however I only use them on tarmac or gravel, I've got a pair of Bhutan boots for hiking and walking the dog etc.
Was quite reluctant to initially pay such a high price for a pair of leather walking shoes, but, they are probably the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I have quite wide feet and as such these are a dream to wear whatever you are doing. They have been lovingly looked after, well treated, oiled, polished, whatever you do to keep the leather supple it has had it I can assure you. However, the stitching around the toe area started to come undone after approx twelve months. I still have the shoes some two years on, they still look quite good and feel great, its just a pity that there is VERY obviously a design fault in this area which ought to have been rectified by now, especially after so many paying customers have flagged it up. I am about to go out and purchase. Another pair for smarter wear even tho there is this problem. Why didn’t I take them back etc. .... couldn’t be bothered I’m afraid.
Excellent levels of comfort, grip and stability. These shoes feel great, giving lots of room in the toe-box (helpful if you want to use bulky insoles) and I've used them for some pretty serious walking, however...
Like so many others, I found the stitching around the toe section came away early in the life of the shoes (both sides, both feet) and clearly this is a design flaw as so many people report the same thing. I therefore can't recommend these shoes as, at this price point, I expect much more life from a pair of shoes than this. Ultimately, very disappointing from a 'quality' brand.
Brought Meindl Philadelphia walking shoes for my husband, the wide fit fitted him really well, he is very happy with them. He says they are so comfortable.
As others have said, the shoes are very, very comfortable but for £140 the quality isn't good enough. Stitching on the side by the toes has come away and have generally, slowly disintegrated. Real shame as they are the comfiest walking shoes I've owned but for that price I need more than a year out of them.
Great shoes but poor quality stitching. I have had three pairs and they all came apart on the side of the toe cap. When are Meindl going to attend to this problem? So much for German quality
Having been diagnosed with arthritis in his feet, walking had become very painful. With these comfy boots he can continue walking on holidays and managed 8 miles with me yesterday!
I have had these now just over a year (about 58 weeks!) fairly light use, the soles are still unworn/unmarked, but the stitching on the toe is now falling apart. Shame - I won't be buying any more of these. Not value for money.
had just over a year, overall comfortable but like other reviewers stitching is coming away at corner of toe box
I bought these to wear to Oulton Park for British Superbikes. Did a lot of walking that day. They were Excellent and the salesman was very Knowledgeable. Thanks to his advice I enjoyed my day. See you soon.
Just over a year old and the stitching is coming away around the toe area
Hard to fault these. Immediately comfortable on the first wear, hardly any breaking in needed. Supports my feet well on long walks and haven't noticed any slipping at all, even on very wet/icy ground. Looks very smart too - even my children said "Like your shoes, dad!"
Recommended by a friend.Good quality and comfortable. Not worn them often yet but pleased so far with the choice I made
Excellent quality. This is the fourth pair of these that I have had. They are very comfortable and waterproof and can be used as every day shoes or for long country walks. Can thoroughly recommend.
This is the second pair of Meindl Philadelphia GTX I have purchased and have absolutely no complaints. Although they are quite expensive, the staff at go outdoors have kindly priced matched on each purchase. They are extremely comfortable with a wide fitting toe. Very hard wearing, I clocked up over 2,000 km's on tarmac in a 12 month period with the first pair, before replacing them, so on softer ground they should last much longer. The high heal support may take a bit of getting used to, and the laces are my only gripe, poor quality, 3 pairs in 12 months. However, they are the best walking shoes I have owned and are far superior quality to a similarly price pair of saloman walking shoes. Top notch!!
Great shoe, very comfortable. You may need some thick socks to take up some of the room in the front.
You can get these a lot cheaper than Go Outdoors.
Like many others I loved these shoes and find them very comfortable but even with light use, mainly roads and tracks no hill climbing, the stitching has come undone around the toe area. Soles good
