A flexible and stable multi-sport shoe with a low, stylish profile.
The Merrell Intercept is a versatile shoe that lends itself to a range of tough uses.
With a sculpted and breathable leather upper, mesh lining and tongue, and antomical footbed, the Intercept willl move with your foot and keep you comfortable whatever you're doing.
The Vibram® Axis Sole made with Sticky Rubber provides traction and hold, whilst the Merrell® air cushion in the heel absorbs shock and adds stability, great on wet surfaces or gravel.
The bellows tongue keeps out dirt and debris, whilst the breathable lining treated with antimicrobial Aegis prevents sweat and bacteria building up, no matter how often you wear them.
The comfort of the Intercept comes from the Ortholite Anatomical Footbed, the molded nylon arch shank as well as the In-Board Compression molded EVA footframe which cushions every step, whether you are walking the trails, or just using these on the street.
For general abrasion resistantance the Intercept benefit from a toe cap that prevets scratches and scrapes to either you, or your shoes.
The Intercept are ideal 'wear everywhere' shoes- smart enough for the weekends, but tough enough for the trails.
Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.
Remember, feet can expand over a quarter size during a full day's walk so ensure you get the right fit.
Bought these about a year ago after having a previous pair which were very comfortable go to shoes which lasted about three years . Unfortunately these didn't last to long toe rubber split on both shoes with similar use still comfortable but lacking longevity.

I'm about to pick up my fourth pair of these because they are so good. With hard use they give me 2 years or so of service before being relegated to 'garden shoes'! I see that some are suggesting to buy a size larger than normal. Yes, these shoes are a snug fit when new but rapidly adapt to foot shape so, unless wearing with 'proper' walking socks I always go with my normal 9's. Just one thing, my previous pair were the 'Gore-Tex' versions, these don't appear to be available anymore which is a shame. Still, I suppose a quick spray of proofer will sort that.

Very poor quality
These shoes look good and are very comfortable, but any good points are completely let down by the defective design of the black rubber part that covers the toe area. This just tears at the point where the toes bend. Each of my shoes now has 2 large tears on each shoe at this point. I have read similar reviews, so this is obviously a bad design and I am surprised that a Merrell still sell these, as it isn't good for heir reputation.

Not built to last
I always thought that Merrell products were' quality' and whilst the shoe is comfortable, don't expect them to be long lasting. The rubber bumper split in various places after less than a year followed rapidly with the upper staring to separating from the solewith a 50 cm split - never again

I needed a comfy pair of shoes to complete the Yorshire Dales 3 peaks last weeked 25 miles . I tried loads of shoes on a decided to go for these and they didn't dissapoint. 25 miles of blister free comfort very light , good grip , . Not waterproof so take spare socks if there is a risk of getting wet feet . Can't reccomend enough

Very good - at the second attempt
I decided to buy the Interceptors because of there quirky, rather unique trendy look. Also because my old Merrell's have been superbly comfortable and durable.
Unfortunately, the first pair didn't fit properly, exasperated by the LH shoe pulling my foot inwards - all rather strange. No matter, thanks to the friendly Go Outdoors staff at Derby, I was able to replace the errant product.
All is now well. The shoes - sorry approach shoes - are comfortable, well made and I'm able to walk normally. A good three mile jaunt proved that.
A very flexible shoe which could be used for all sorts of occasions and situations. However, make sure they fit correctly before deciding to purchase; and if you do, make sure you lace them up properly as your feet could slide around inside.

Give them a miss
I really like these shoes but unfortunately, they are not built to last. I am on my second pair & like the first pair I am beginning to see a tear in the front (between fabric & rubber seal) of one of the shoes (same location). Its a critical defect so I'm out of pocket again. This occurred within a year of light usage. The warranty partly covered the the purchase of the second pair but when I highlighted the same issue again with the manufacturer it seems to be falling on deaf ears. The shoes also grip poorly on wet surfaces e.g cobblestones. Its a real shame as they are quite expensive.

Comfy straight out of the box
This is the second pair of Merrell I've had and they don't disappoint. Straight out of the box without wearing in, no rubbing or chaffing. One thing to be aware of is the need for 1 size bigger.

Best shoes ever!!
Although these shoes are known as walking shoes, I'd say their use is far greater than just walking, i wear mine everywhere. I do generally struggle with finding the right shoes as i am flat footed but these are really brilliant! They have excellent heel support as the whole shoe really cups your heel, the grip is also fantastic and is also very well designed! Will definitely buy another pair someday!!
