An updated classic, giving you fully waterproof comfort on the hills, paths and trails.

GORE-TEX® Technologies The Scarpa Ranger has been a classic appealing to walkers and ramblers over many years, a firm favourite for those walking in warmer conditions.

This version, the Scarpa Ranger II Active GTX, features Scarpa’s new Activ Fit technology and a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX lining, for luxurious comfort all day long.

The Ranger 2 now features Scarpa's BD last, offering increased fit and performance, while the Hi-Flex midsole offers the optimum balance of support and walking comfort.

The new Activ Fit design combines four elements; last, sole, ergonomic design and footbed, giving you instant, out-of-the-box comfort and performance.

Ideally suited to hillwalking and rambling on paths, trails, fells and moorland.
  • BD last – A new level of instant comfort
  • Auto-fit foam inserts in heel area provide perfect foot hold and increased comfort
  • Hi-Flex midsole for optimum balance of support and walking comfort
  • Vibram Kalden sole with integral rand protection
  • Calf leather upper

The Vibram Kalden sole uses PU for great shock absorption, concealed and protected by the rubber outsole and integral rand, which eliminates the complexity of adding a separate rand which can so often be the cause of quality issues down the line. The cleating pattern features unique "propeller" cleats for outstanding underfoot grip on all terrain.

Scarpa use high quality full grain calf leather on these boots, approximately 2.5mm thick, ideal for fell or lighter weight hillwalking boots, which require less bedding in.

Men's Scarpa Footwear Size Guide

Measuring tips

Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.

Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet.

Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.

Remember, feet can expand over a quarter size during a full day's walk so ensure you get the right fit.

My last pair

My 6th & sadly last pair
They hurt my soles & cripple my feet so much I resurrected the old pair & got them resoled
They're 100gm/pr lighter and much bendier than the old boots & the footbed is poor

Superb boots

I've had these for a few months now and am extremely happy with them. A reasonable weight, waterproof, very comfortable from day one and offer excellent protection and performance.

Fantastic boot

Recently purchased these scarpa boots and currently breaking them in. Just completed a 9 mile walk without any problems and doing a 10 miler tomorrow. Tackling The West highland way in May 2019 and if they continue to perform as they are it should be a doddle. Great boot, would highly recommend them.

Scarpa Ranger II Walking Boots

I have been looking for a new pair of walking boots due to my Berghaus Superlights starting to fail me splitting down the side.
I went on some web sights to see the ones people recommend and the ones I choice where the Scarpa Ranger II and I have made the correct choice very well made, good thickness of leather, very comfortable straight out of the box up to know I have done 4 9 mile walks and no problems.

Impressed

First pair of new boots for circa 10 yrs, replacing my Karrimors. First use weekend was 5, 9 & 6 miles no issues at all. Very comfortable and lighter than the old ones.
The soles of my old karrimors are the same manufacturer and they still look relatively new so hoping these last as well.

Excellent Boots

Fine for over an hour on first few walks, broken in by third walk. Extremely comfortable, very stable and not to heavy!

Strange boot

Pros:
Incrediblely hard wearing, completely and utterly waterproof!
Nice and warm in the cold!
Grips well on all different types of terrain!
Very supportive on ankles!

Cons:
Uk sizing is totally off! I’m normally rather 10-1/5 or 11 and had to swap for a size 9-1/5....
The sole inside the boot makes your feet slip forward, specially on the downs. It feels like wearing high heels at times!
Done about 70 miles in welsh mountains and Lakes District and other various local walks in cold weather with proper walking socks, no blisters or any sign of them. Attempted to do the west highland way recently in mild to warm weather same socks and thinner ones. First 8 miles on flat! Completely covered in blisters! To the point that I had to pull out of the trip after the second day! I guess they are winter boots as they clearly dont breath in warmer conditions.
With cleaning them properly all the time, All in all, quite disappointed with them really considering the price. Will be used for short day winter walks in future.

An absolutely superb boot.
Exceptionally comfortable, beautifully made. Grip in muddy conditions is unreal.
First class!

Great Boots

Picked up a pair of these prior to walking the complete 'Camino De Santiago' in Northern Spain, they were great. I wore & walked in these boots every day for around 6 weeks covering a total of 900km in snow, rain & sunshine over all terrain types, not one blister. Did a further 300km with the same boots walking through Portugal. Just about to buy another pair as the sole is now showing signs of wear which is expected considering the mileage I have had out of them, the upper is still in good condition. I highly recommend these boots.

Perfect for those with wide feet

I originally purchased a pair of goretex Scarpas in the hope they would be better on my very wide feet. Unfortunately after wearing those around the house for a day they started to pinch.

Back I went and was recommended these by the member of staff as good for wide feet. They weren't wrong! I could tell when trying them on that they were suited to wide feet.

I have so far walked around 20 miles on the North Kent Downs, so at least some fairly steep uphills. They barely needed breaking in and I haven't had any rubbing or pinching problems.

The leather is great, and the softer leather areas such as the upper ankle support feel great and allow a lot of flexibility that I didn't get in an older heavier pair of leather boots.

Something I have also started notice is that my feet keep fairly cool, which is a real bonus as I plan on wearing them on a summer hiking holiday.

I normally wouldn't spend so much on boots but so glad I did as the quality is very high.

But back to the main reason I recommend these....they fit those of us with afflicted abnormally wide feet!!

Great so far but not for to much rock.

I've had these for about a mouth and been on two good walks and so far they've been very good. Comfortable, waterproof and warm. My first walk in them involved some unplanned scrambling up some boulders by a river. This led to some scratches in the leather on the toe. This is not the fault of the boot. The rubber rand does go round the whole boot but not over the toe so if you find yourself clambering over boulder more regularly you may want more protection in this area. Or you may just have better foot placement then me... I blame my size 13's, my feet are just to big so my boots do get banged up a bit. The ground was wet but the my feet stayed dry and had decent grip on some wet rock in the stream due to spray. Despite being a bit stiffer than your average fell walking boot I found them very comfortable on a later casual jaunt around a local NT place on fairly flat ground.

Pure quality

Quality traditional style boot. I had some Asolo Falcons the trendy fabric style but was left in pain after snowdon! Sold straight away... These are simply in another league and I know when they have broken in properly I'll have years of use.
What's better is the price match!! At the price these cost me I almost feel guilty!!!

An excellent walking boot but beware

My wife bought me some Ranger GTX boots a couple of years ago and they are excellent however whilst they seemed to fit very well in the shop when out walking at first I had a major problem with the fit around my ankles which and at one point I wondered if they would be a relatively expensive disaster. I manually worked the leather using leather conditioner until it softened which took a while and they then were fine. I do Nikwax them after use and have had no leakage issues thus far.

Scarpa Ranger II GTX Walking Boots

These boots were comfortable from day 1 and I would certainly recommend them. I walk nearly every day and these have lasted 2.5 years soles are now quite think and the uppers have a crack and leak water. Until this time they have been water proof. I do care for the leather upper as I reproof them every 2-3 months which is well worth doing. Just looking for a replacement and will probably go for the same boot.

Scarpa Ranger II Activ walking boots

Only had them a few weeks but all the signs are good. They are comfortable from the outset and waterproof. My 5* rating may be a bit premature as I have only had them a few weeks but the manufacturing quality is apparent so as I say signs are good. I hope I'll get at least 1500 miles out of them as I did with a pair of Altbergs and singularly failed to do so with cheap Karimoors and HiTecs', all of which leaked within about 3 months of owning them.

Scarpa active walking boots

A bit heavier than the cheaper Scarpa boot but now I have got used to them and unlike the cheaper boot, I have to wear these in. I hope they will last longer than a year (I walk my dogs 1500-2000 miles a year) Here's hoping the signs look good

Scarpa Ranger active Boots

Had two pairs of these boots now within twelve months and they both leak. Got a replacement for the first pair but these now leak after two months. All I want is a good pair of comfy boots that do not leak. Where do I have to go to get them?
