Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
Collar: Measure around the base of the neck where the collar sits.
Chest: Measure the chest at the fullest part, placing the tape close up under the arms.
Waist: Measure the natural waistline.
Inside Leg: Measure from the crotch to where your trouser is normally worn on the shoe.
Jacket Length: Measure from the centre back of your neck to your hemline. Then length measurement will vary depending on the style.
Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.
After much deliberation and weighing up the pros and cons this hat took to me like a duck to water. It's light on the head comfortable to wear does what it says on the label. A good all rounder for the use it's going to get and stylish too. I would recommend this product even if a little pricey.

The Tilly brand is well known for quality but this is the first I have owned and it seems to deserve the reputation. It has a wide brim which is handy for keeping both rain and Sun off you. It stays on in the wind (tested on South downs) and has a little pocket in the roof of the hat. Pricey but good quality.

As with all Tilly gear, the quality is undeniable. Looks good as well as doing the job it's designed for. The great thing about this hat is that because it is prewashed and 'scrubbed', you can scrunch it up in your pack and it still looks fine. Wouldn't necessarily wear it on parade but that's to what it's for.

Good hat, awkward to carry
I bought this hat on a rainy day and it was excellent, it's actually been great in all conditions that I've worn it in. the wind strap is a must even if it does look a bit daft. the only issue I have noticed is when not wearing the hat, it can be awkward to carry as you might not want to stuff it into a bag and it has no good attachment point, but that is really my only issue
