Those who fancy a good winter hike in the Peak District may wish to don their
winter jackets and put on good
walking boots ahead of a guided event on January 15th.
Organised and led by national park authority rangers, the walk begins at Hollins Bank below Stanage Edge at 11:00 GMT, with the six-mile hike lasting until 15:30, by which time the light will be starting to fade.
The walk - described as "suitable for experienced walkers" - will involve rough paths and climbs of two hills, while good weather may permit a panoramic view from the edge.
Having the right clothing and footwear has been listed as essential, along with a packed lunch and a warm drink.
No pre-booking is required for the event.
Those heading into the Peak District at present will be confronted with some challenging weather, with low temperatures and snow on the hills after showers across the north of England today.
