Wearing walking boots is something people should consider even when just taking a walk in a city park, with a fitness expert noting having the right things on one's feet is not just a matter for rural rambles.

Walk London's Autumn Ambles take place this weekend (September 24th and 25th) and PR consultant for the event Zimena Percival noted that while some of these involve walking the crowded streets of the central area, others visit parks and green spaces in the suburbs.

"Loose comfortable clothing and good walking shoes are all you need for these walks," she said, but noted that while the weather forecast is good, "It might be worth packing a raincoat or an umbrella just in case."

Waterproofs may be useful while walking in any area, be it an urban street, a park or out in the countryside.

Treks on offer in London this weekend include the Lee Valley Walk, which follows the river from the northern edge of the capital down to Limehouse Basin, where the Thames connects with the national canal network.
