The Ramblers has announced a programme of summer walks, encouraging people to put on
hiking boots and enjoy the long, warm days of summer.
It has launched a series of rambles in locations all over the country, of between three and seven miles in length, which may appeal to those who like to
go walking but don't fancy tackling major mountain challenges yet.
Chief executive of the body Tom Franklin said: "The heaths are buzzing, the parks are an umbrella of green, the summer chorus is in full swing - summer is definitely the time to be making the most of the outdoors."
He suggested the extra hours of daylight are very useful for working people, who can get out in the evenings when their days' labours are done.
June 21st is the longest day of the year and those heading up to Scotland may enjoy some particularly light conditions, with sunsets now taking place after 22:00 BST in most parts.
