One of the very best ways to spend Valentine's Day is to
go walking, the Ramblers has said.
Putting on
walking boots and sharing a romantic hike with a loved one could be a great way of enjoying February 14th, at minimal cost and with all the health benefits of fresh air and exercise, the organisation has suggested.
Head of walking programmes and promotions Simon Barnett said: "We want everyone to experience the pleasure of spending quality time with someone you love by enjoying the fresh air and fantastic views on a fine day."
He added that anyone not in a relationship can avoid feeling alone by heading out with a walking group.
February 14th is not the only day when people are being urged to
go walking by the Ramblers.
Among its programmes is the "get walking, keep walking" scheme, which includes a series of events recently announced for people in County Durham.
These include a four mile walk around Gilomby and Bowes this Sunday (February 12th).
