Snowdon 4x4 reappears on mountain

A 4x4 that was left illegally on Snowdon earlier this month has reappeared on the mountain in mysterious circumstances.

Those who like to go walking may have been disturbed to see the Vauxhall Frontera parked up next to the Hafod Eryri building, just below the summit.

It is not known who drove the vehicle up this time, with owner Craig Williams having already appeared in court charged with having allegedly been behind the wheel when it made its first appearance three weeks ago.

However, this could be the last that is seen of the Frontera as Snowdonia National Park Authority chief executive Aneurin Philllips said: "This irresponsible behaviour is totally unacceptable and I urge the police to prosecute the offender and impound and dispose of the vehicle."

The likely route the vehicle will have taken would have followed the Snowdon Mountain Railway via the Llanberis Path, an easy route for walkers up the mountain that also affords access to the second highest summit on the Massif, the 3,495 top of Garnedd Ugain.
