The Kendal Mountain
Festival starts this week (November 18th) and offers plenty to whet the appetite for those preparing to don their
ski boots this winter.
An email from the Lake District Ski Club noted there are a number of talks and features linked with the sport, which includes film of a ski descent of Ben Nevis's Tower Ridge, as well as flicks of skiing adventures in exotic locations like Antarctica, Kashmir and Afghanistan.
There will also be four talks held on the subject during the event, which may inspire those planning to get some extra
skiwear to stock up before heading for the hills.
Another email from the club revealed there has already been enough snow on the side of Raise, near Helvellyn, for skiing.
It suggested "another great season" could be in prospect, which may offer English skiers an alternative to a longer journey up to Scotland's resorts or overseas.
