Those hoping to grab their ski goggles and head for Glencoe may be able to hit the slopes this weekend, the resort has stated.

Although the flanks of Meall a' Bhuiridh on which the ski centre is located have had less snow than other parts of Scotland, the latest update has stated it hopes to be opening this Saturday (December 11th), with the first lift operating from 09:00 GMT.

This should mainly suit experienced skiers as it noted: "Conditions at present are unsuitable for beginners as the snow is fairly thin lower down," although it promised to provide a revised outlook on Friday, which may change the situation if more snow falls.

At present the Main Basin and Happy Valley runs are the best routes, the resort stated.

Other Scottish resorts are offering plenty for those heading there in ski boots.

Glen Shee has many of its lifts and tows open and stated: "Most runs are complete with good cover of packed powder snow," while identifying Meall Odhar as offering the best off-piste action.
