Those camping at the Stockton Weekender festival starting today (August 5th) may be joined over the next couple of days by fans who had planned to be elsewhere in the north-east this weekend.

Fans heading for the Ignition Festival in Newcastle were hit by the news that the event has had to be cancelled this year due to a row between the organisers and Newcastle Racecourse, which may have left some with nothing to this weekend do until Stockton stepped in.

It is offering those with Ignition tickets and ID a chance to enjoy day entry at the Stockton-on-Tees event for the cut price of £10 each.

Director Paul Burns remarked: "We hope that this small gesture will at least ensure that ticket holders can still enjoy some top class music over the weekend."

Fans camping at the festival will have been setting up their tents since the site opened at 17:00 BST yesterday.

It may be some Ignition-bound fans who enjoy Stockton will decide to join them next year.
