People in the UK who have not already had their fill of winter weather may wish to lace up their ski boots and head to a ski resort in Austria, a newspaper has recommended.

The Daily Mail recently included Solden, Austria on its list of places to find the best ski deals this season.

It noted that the resort town is "undergoing a renaissance" and is "extremely popular" with young ski enthusiasts hailing from Austria and Germany.

And with a peak altitude of 3,260m, "there's never a worry about snow cover".

Solden is a particularly good destination for people who ski at an intermediate level, as well as freestylers and those who enjoy a lively apres-ski experience - and there are 34 lifts available.

The newspaper recommended that those planning a trip to Solden seek out accommodation near the Giggijoch gondola, which is the most convenient location.

People who are looking to don their ski boots a little closer to home may wish to consider Scotland, which has five ski resorts, or the Lake District Ski Club in Cumbria.

Thanks to the January snow, all of these locations are currently open for business.
