Tickets for the 2011 Glastonbury festival have sold out in just four hours.

A booking hotline opened yesterday (October 3rd) at 09:00 BST and both this and the online booking service were inundated with requests from those keen to enjoy next summer's show, even though the line-up has yet to be named.

Those lucky enough to get tickets may wish to plan ahead and visit their nearest Go Outdoors store to invest in camping accessories such as tents, sleeping bags and airbeds to make the stay more comfortable.

The tickets went in eight hours less than for the 2010 festival, although Michael and Emily Eavis acknowledged there were some technical difficulties experienced by some of those trying to get tickets.

"We're very sorry to those of you who didn't get tickets and acknowledge there were some issues with the website/phoneline due to the sheer volume of people trying to get through," they stated.

Next year's event will be the 41st Glastonbury, with the first commencing the day after the death of legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix.
