A team attempting to climb the UK three peaks in 72 hours for Sport Relief have been doing so with kit supplied by Berghaus.

The outdoor clothing maker, which produces winter jackets, walking boots and other items of hiking equipment, provided the support to Iraq veteran Major Chris Packer and TV presenter Kate Silverton.

Other members of the party included Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Clive Woodward as the group sought to reach the snow-capped summits of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

Due to extreme weather, the party was unable to reach the summit of Ben Nevis, despite getting close to the top in white-out conditions.

Those keen to grab some walking gear from Berghaus may wish to visit their nearest Go Outdoors store for this purpose.

Ben Nevis is under cloud cover for six days out of seven and can be dangerous in certain weather conditions.

Walkers have to take a 281 degree compass bearing from the summit to avoid the cliffs of the north face to their right and Five Fingered Gulley to the left, both of which can be concealed by overhanging snow cornices.
