Skiers will be among those who have much to enjoy at the upcoming Fort William Mountain Festival, it has been claimed.

Blogging for The Skinny, Paul Mitchell said the event, held between February 11th and 15th, will be "a five day jamboree of lectures, workshops and films and activities for residents and visitors who want to learn about and celebrate mountain culture".

And those who like to don their ski boots will be among the people enjoying the event, which includes instructions for those keen to develop their techniques.

He noted one particular highlight is the chance to join the Mammoth Descent, an event when wintersports fans gather at the top of Aonach Mor with their skis and snowboards before hurtling down the mountainside all the way to the pub.

Skiing in the Fort William area is provided at the Nevis Range resort, where the latest forecast has indicated the slopes are close for the day, due to high winds.ADNFCR-2803-ID-800387214-ADNFCR
