Nurture Lakeland will be the charity partner of the 2011 Keswick Mountain festival, it has been revealed.

The charity is committed to conservation work in the Lake District and includes the path-mending Fix the Fells project, which those who like to go walking in the national park may be thankful to for keeping public rights of way in good order.

People buying tickets at the festival will be able to make discretionary donations when purchasing them and there will be other fundraising events during the five days of fun and adventure.

And those keen to learn more about Nurture Lakeland can see them in the Adventure Zone, where the body will have a permanent presence.

The festival runs from May 18th to 22nd and walkers will be joined by those on mountain bikes or who like to don their running shoes and do some fell running in a wide range of activities.

Walks vary from climbs up modest fells like Catbells to a scramble up striding ridge to the 3,117 ft summit of Helvellyn.
