Staff from a Hampshire car dealing firm are preparing to climb the national three peaks for charity.

The team from Scotthall Hampshire are seeking to raise £3,500 for the charity Cash for Kids, This is Hampshire reports.

Trip leader Ian Holyoak told the news provider that the group intends to complete the ascents of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon inside 12 hours.

"However, whatever time we complete this challenge in, our main hope is to raise some much needed funds," he added.

The climbers may need to invest in some new walking boots and also some fleeces, as even in summer the tops of mountains can be cold.

According to the official Three Peaks Challenge website, essential equipment also includes walking trousers, waterproofs, gloves, a woolly hat, maps, compasses and rucksacks.

It adds that the challenge is complete when walkers reach Caernarfon Castle's car park and touch the water by the car park.
