The Cairn Gorm ski resort is open for wintersports, with tows available and people taking to the slopes in their skiwear.

Reporting on the early-season availability of fun in the snow, the resort stated it was opening today (November 16th) with just the funicular railway taking people in their snow boots to the upper slopes at present.

It stated: "Best route is down the Traverse, 105 and then the Gunbarrel," also noting the White Lady route could be a good one for experienced skiers to enjoy.

As yet the other four resorts are not hosting wintersports, with the Nevis Range closed for maintenance until a week before Christmas.

Skiing has already begun in England, with the Lake District ski club sending an email out earlier this month noting the slopes on Raise were open for skiing as enough snow had already fallen.

Last season was regarded as one of the best in decades, as the unusually cold winter provided outstanding ski conditions.
