GO Outdoors store names Blackburn Scouts as the ‘most prepared for adventure!’

Go Outdoors are please to have awarded the Blackburn District Explorer Scouts with the award of the ‘Adventurers of the Year’.

The troop of 50 teens, all aged 14 t 18 received the award from Blackburn Store manager Neil Kettle and the Managing Director of GO Outdoors John Graham.

GO Outdoors ran a search to find a local person, or group who closely embodied GO Outdoors own ethos of having fun in the outdoors, representing the spirit of adventure, to celebrate the opening the new GO Outdoors store in  Throstle Street, Blackburn.

The Blackburn District Explorer Scouts have undertaken a variety of adventures, including glacier walking, rafting and trekking in mountains found in Romania and Switzerland which secured them the award- out of all the entries, The Blackburn Explorer Scouts showed what manager Neil described as “real commitment to adventure and the outdoors”.

The Scouts Commissioner, Stuart Parker, who nominated the group explained his pleasure at winning the award, which includes £250 worth of GO Outdoors vouchers.

“Being recognised by GO Outdoors for our love of adventure is fantastic and hopefully it can inspire others to enjoy the outdoors as much as we do! All of our members help to raise money to pay for our activities, so we will be putting the GO Outdoors voucher towards kitting us out for our next adventure, which I am sure isn’t far away!”
