Reviewed by Anon - 27th May, 2018 Not Recommended for D of E I bought this back pack specially for my Silver D of E and quite frankly, a big mistake. When doing D of E you try to budget a little with spending as little as possible, but I would highly recommend spending a lot more on a decent rucksack. The velcro back adjustment was ridiculous. Every time I'd walk could hear it making the ripping sound and then completely coming undone. I had to put up with it for 3 days...and I suffered from a bad back ache for a few weeks. I took these bag back and Go Outdoors were kind enough to give me the new OEX Bag as it is, supposedly, the upgraded version.
Reviewed by Specialized - 28th Jan, 2018 Failed After my last review. This has now failed me! After regular use over the winter. The adjustable back system has failed. The lid straps buckles have broken! The zip on one pocket has ripped! Much of the stitching is threatening to rip! There are no ice axe/walking pole loops! Or bottom loops for roll mat! By cheap buy twice! That's what I will have to do!
Reviewed by Wee Beastie - 25th Jan, 2018 Pretty good all rounder I bought this backpack for a 12 month trip backpacking in Asia. The storage volume and multi-point accessibility was what got my attention. This is a definite strong point of the pack although the bottom zip has a flap which often catches in the zip itself making it a bit fiddly. The bag was unpacked and repacked hundreds of times throughout the trip and over time I discovered that some of the seams began to stretch and tear. The strap adjustment could be better and, like other reviewers have mentioned, the velcro part of the shoulder strap adjusters comes undone often. Again, over time I found that it just seemed to stretch to the point that did not hold the pack in an optimum position. I'd recommend the pack for someone looking to do weekend backpacking or excursions. As a travel backpack, there are quite a few loose straps which need tied back/together/ out the way before being checked in at an airport.

Reviewed by olivia10 - 21st Oct, 2017 Practical and good value for money I purchased this at at discounted price which was great! For the price the quality couldn't get much better. There is loads of room for everything in the backpack with the different compartments. I also love that it has a waterproof cover built in. After having a few different rucksacks I can say this is the best one yet although unlike some people I only use mine from time to time so definitely great for that!
Reviewed by Specialized - 24th Jul, 2017 First trip out Being an ex Military man used to hard core kit and previous to this an experienced mountaineer and then a huge break from the light weight camping scene. I decided to get back in! And after many reviews I decided to give this baby a go as I wanted to save a bit of cash. Budget.....perfect Quality ...... not so good.... on its first trip the rain cover attachment was not attached to it's fastening. I decided to ask my wife to rectify this rather than return ( I appreciate Go outdoors would have happily refunded or exchanged) On picking up the pack I could hear the very simple Velcro back adjustment starting to tear. But once on. It held with no issues. A budget pack that works. Though with a heavier load I wouldn't be very confident of the back adjuster
Reviewed by Em - 14th Jul, 2017 Good value for money, great rucksack! Had this rucksack for over a year now and I really like it. Nice size, lots of compression straps and can be fitted for my own height. There are many pockets and zips which makes organising kit easy. The zip for the bottom compartment however is awkward to do when a sleeping bag is in there and sometimes the shoulder straps can be itchy if they go over where your t-shirt ends.

Reviewed by Josh - 17th Apr, 2017 Poor Velcro height adjustment system At first glance the backpack looks good, is great value for money, and has good capacity. However, after just one use the Velcro back height adjustment system failed whilst hiking in the Brecon Beacons causing the pack to become unstable. I had 25kg of weight in it and by the end of the trip due to it no longer being fitted correctly it caused hip and back pain. Very disappointed but got a full refund and spent more money on a better pack.

Reviewed by Gareth - 10th Mar, 2016 Impressed Bit confused with some of the reviews about this pack, I've done around 150 miles with it over the last six months and it's been fantastic (especially for the price), visiting some of the more remote Bothys of North Wales so most times I'm overloaded with coal fuel and supply's. The pack works very well with a good distribution of weight and easy access to the inner main sack. The integrated cover is a nice touch also. The only downside I've found so far is the strapping on top, in high winds they do like to hit you in the face...
Reviewed by vaughaag - 28th Jan, 2016 Good pack for money with good features I purchased this pack last week to take on a two day trek. I wanted a larger pack as I wanted to pack some camera gear as well as my winter kit. The side opening of the bag enabled me to access my cameras with easy and the overall feel of the bag was good. The buckles, zips and webbing feels a little cheap and for me there are far too many straps / excess webbing. My hip belt was also upside down.... Overall a very good pack for the money,
Reviewed by Karl - 5th Aug, 2015 Awesome bag.....RUBBISH velcro system!!! I bought the 70+10l rucksack as I was supposed to be doing the Wainwright trail which is 197 miles coast to coast. I got everything I needed into the bag and could access it from different places on the bag which was fantastic!!! I was carrying 29kg and before we started the velcro securing straps that hols the shoulder straps to the bag came loose. I secured it and was helped into my bag. I started the walk and within 5 miles it had broken loose again. I stopped and fixed it by redoing the velcro. It broke again and again and again. I had to duct tape the velcro in place. Whic was then uncomfortable. A great pack for a day walk or maybe 2 where you aren't carrying anythingore than 15kg. Anything more and get something different. Had the velcro held I would have given the bag 5 stars as it was perfect other than the velcro. I had to swap bags on the 2nd day which was expensive. I used a lowepro aline which wasn't as good but the straps didn't move once. Inferior body MUCH better straps. Shame I couldn't combine the two.
Reviewed by Allie - 4th Aug, 2015 OEX 70+ 10 rucksack I used this rucksack to do over 100 miles of the Pembrokeshire Coastal path. Once packed in the main compartment the side pockets add little extra space. The zips are very flimsy and don't feel overly sturdy. The compression straps on the side are useful. Although the bag is targeted at a slimmer build I am size 10/ 12 and would have like the hip belt to go a little smaller than it did! On the whole the bag did really well and the raincover stayed on well in rain and winds. Would be good to have some small pockets on the hip belt for small items that you need quick access to on the trail.
Reviewed by J - 29th Jul, 2015 Brilliant for Dofe This rucksack would be perfect for a person doing a small weekend. Sadly I was using this rucksack for abit note than that, I took it away for a weeks camping and after day three of things being unpacked and re-pack the rucksack, it split down the sowing line on the face of the bag. I Believe this bag would be brilliant and great value for money if OEX were to re-think how much sowing should be on the front of this pack, you want one constant piece of material so it is less likely to tare or rip. After all this Go outdoors were happy to either swap the pack or give me a voucher equivalent which I spend on a different rucksack from their range.
