I read a review slating this and couldn’t help think now that they got unlucky and had a faulty product. I’ve used this for the past 18 months in a variety of climates and circumstances including straight to the ground under a shelter sheet for 10 days in a row repacking and unpacking every day of those 10. It hasn’t had light use, probably used on average once a month with some of those for a week at a time.

I dry it out properly after use and store it rolled and it’s still going strong.

It’s added so much warmth and comfort to some previously uncomfortable climates and environments and I honestly couldn’t recommend this enough to most people.

Unfortunately it’s too heavy and big for me to take to the Himalayas (due to tight weight restrictions on the flight and by the Sherpas and because of all the other kit I have to take... marginal gains all important) but if that’s not important then this is a great buy.

I take it on multi day UK and European expeds mostly within a 45 or 65 l pack.

Used on prepared pitches, wood blocks, wild camping and much more.

My previous bargain basement, Blacks own brand, self-inflator gave me almost 10 years happy use (and is still going), this has barely lasted 10 months; maybe 3 weekends away in total. It loses pressure pretty quickly, though I can't find any leaks.
I have bought other OEX branded equipment since first buying and I'm feeling a twinge of regret on this count, I hope they don't turn out to be tat like this mattress.

I'm really pleased with this sleeping mat from OEX. I looked at both the 4.0 and 2.5 but opted for the thicker 4.o and I have to say I am very pleased with it. Compared to other brands it is a quality piece of kit and rivals other mats twice the price. Took around 15 breaths to get it fully inflated and hardly lost anything out of it overnight. There is some grip on the mat as well which prevents you from sliding off during the night and it comes in an excellent dry bag.

Bottom line: if you're looking for a quality sleeping mat that provides comfort and insulation on a budget then this is certainly worth looking at.

Blows up to a great thickness bit you after use a little of your own air to full it to the max. Very comfy and well made. Highly recommended... only issue, it's abit bulky when packed away. Great for winter and you get a repair kit. Perfect

The mat is actually surprisingly light for how comfortable it is, rolls up very small, and doesn't take up much space in your rucksack.

its very easy to inflate, and easy to deflate and roll away again once used.

Its very comfortable, and will help keep you warm when out camping with the decent amount of insulation it offers from the ground, pair it with the OEX Compact Pillow and decent sleeping bag, and youre pretty much guaranteed a good nights sleep.

Great matt , comfortable and kept my warm at -3.
Bit bulky to fit inside a Bergen with all rest of the kit for a winter camp , but comfy, warm and well made

When I was younger I could put out my old roll mat on stoney ground and still sleep through the night; not anymore.

This mat was perfect for my slightly older bones. I toyed with the idea of getting the 2.5 version and that would prob have been fine, but I’m glad I got the 4.0 version for extra comfort, it’s only a tiny bit heavier.

I didn’t use it in very cold weather but I don’t think there will be any prob with it.

I bought this mat to afford a good nights sleep on a motor cycle and camping tour of Ireland.
The mat is compact and light for carrying on my MC. To begin with inflation can take a little time and you might need to help things along by blowing into the inflation tube. After time this was not necessary.
The mat never deflated and provided good insulation and was comfortable.
I am pleased with the mat and think it good value for money.

Spent a night at a Haven Park, went home with aching back after sleeping on a bumpy rock hard surface through my closed cell foam mat.
Before heading for a farm camp site bought the OEX 4 SIM. Tested the SIMS in stock at Go Outdoors, Chatham. Couldn't feel the keys in my pocket with this one.
Two peaceful nights later, I drove home relaxed and content.
I'd thought SIMs were for wimps who took pillows camping, now I've got one.

Great mat - I tried a few and settled on this brand. Quick to inflate, good length - and love the carrying bag which doubles up as a dry bag. Definitely recommend this.

Good bit of kit. Very comfy and a replacement for my multimat which expired after 10 years of loyal service.
As with all self inflating mattresses, it needs a few breaths into it. Nice and thick with containment points to catch hold of your sleeping bag. Also despite OEX being a Go Outdoor's own brand......I was able to find it cheaper on line.....price match came into place with an additional 10% knocked off..........good service, good kit!

Very comfortable and easy to use. Spent 3 consecutive nights sleeping on this and slept as well as I do in my normal bed !

I actually slept better on this camping than I do in my own bed! It is a price, therefore considered purchase, but it is the best investment you will ever make!

This was bought due to the previous nights cold and uncomfortable nights sleep at a British Superbike event at Oulton Park. It didn't stop the bigger lumps from getting through to my back, but it made it a lot more comfortable and warmer than the previous night. It also stopped me sliding down the slight incline on the campsite. It was worth every penny for the better nights sleep I got the 2nd night.

I have just come back from a D of E weekend in the Brecon Beacons. The sleeping mat was totally FAB!
All my friends were very jealous!
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and the Go Outdoors team who advsied me when I was buying it.

Great mat, I've slept about 15 nights on it so far from warm summer to sub-zero Scottish Highland nights. Does a great job insulating you from the ground. A decent size (im 6ft) and thick once inflated when compared to similar mats. Top tip: You can further inflate it once the self-inflating has finished, makes it just a that bit thicker. Just blow into the valve and seal quickly. Once you've got the knack it's quite easy to roll back up and pack into the waterproof bag. Probably not the lightest available due to its size but I use mine for motorbike touring so weight is not an issue for me.
