An award-winning, lightweight and super-breathable storm shell made using GORE-TEX Active fabric.

" Outdoor Research's Axiom Jacket is made from innovatively lightweight and extremely breathable GORE-TEX® Active shell technology, so is completely waterproof and windproof and extremely breathable, yet incredibly lightweight.

Add to this its articulated elbows, helmet-compatible hood and multiple drawcord/hook and loop closures and you have a very unrestricting yet totally protective outer shell for any alpine pursuits.

Excellent. Keeps, the majority of your upper half dry with the exception of your face and head. With only a slight breeze the hood will blow down if the zip is not up all the way, this iisn't too musch of a problem though because this shell is so thin.Even with the zip up, without a helmet on, it will only cover the back half of your head in strong winds.
This shell packs down very small compared to any others I've owned and can then be clipped to a harness through a loop in the pocket.
The pockets are positioned slightly too low for me to access when wearing rucksack or harness as the bottom half is gererally covered. I did choose a larger jacket than was needed so may not be a problem for others.

The best thing about this shell is that it is from Outdoor Research, as such you get with it their "infinite guarantee" which I think is well worth the money. Whilst it is difficult to find out exactly what this covers from OR website/ gooutdoors staff, I am still willing to spread this rumor: There was once a man who left his jacket a little too close to a fire. with some of one sleeve missing, he phoned OR to see what they could do, even if he had to pay for the repair. It got sent off to OR so that they could have a look at the extent of the damge and back came a new jacket free of charge. Very good service if it was true!
