Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
Collar: Measure around the base of the neck where the collar sits.
Chest: Measure the chest at the fullest part, placing the tape close up under the arms.
Waist: Measure the natural waistline.
Inside Leg: Measure from the crotch to where your trouser is normally worn on the shoe.
Jacket Length: Measure from the centre back of your neck to your hemline. The length measurement will vary depending on the style.
Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.
Bought this for mtb trail riding over the winter months. Used in 8dg with a wicking tee underneath and it's spot on while riding. Core body temp drops quickly afterwards but that's to be expected so I take a change of top for the drive home.
I have tested this jacket for a couple of days in UK / Amsterdam / Brussels. It's indeed windproof. The DWR works but not very well, but I don't expect a fleece should be waterproof. For urban usage I think this could be enough till 5 - 10 degrees. I am 188 cm / 73 kg and wear a medium which fits me very well. With current price it's very worthy. Highly recommended.
I use this for work and the pockets are great!! (High zips very practical and two breast are so useful!). Keeps wind out well for a fleece. Seems durable. Soft high neck collar, good stitching, material, fit and style.
Some people seem to expect an awful lot from a light fleece jacket but I think they got it right. Not to mention good value. Excellent!
I do like the product but it has a really dodgy dry wrist zip. It's has been made of plastic rather than fabric and it shows: The quality of the product has been dumbed down because of the the fact: hat the sleeve wrist hasn't been sewed properly.
wind blows in through pockets.
and its not rainproof.
This fleece is warm and windproof, but a couple of disappointments for me. Not a great fit - generally I would say it is on the small side particularly around the upper arms although the arms are also a liitle too long. The velcro cuffs are a complete pain. as they get caught on things including the hand warmer pockets. I was tempted to return but have decided to stick with it and use for work.
Looking for a wind proof fleece, tried this on and it felt great, now I've owned it for a few months I can confirm its a cracker. Warm, wind proof, great fit etc and a good price.
I was looking for a windproof warm fleece which could be worn under my excellent collection of waterproof shells and jackets and to replace an old sturdy Trespass one which seems out of production, found this better than the Mammut fleeces I got for double price and gives warmth and plenty of armmovement and more pockets and nice neckwarming collar which adjustable.
Washes and dries fast.
Shows people lose feel for quality if they just go for big names.
Recommend it.
I wanted a windproof fleece for those times that a waterproof isn't required and one which allows fairly unrestricted movement and could also be worn underneath a waterproof if needed. I have to say that so far it has performed admirably, compared to my normal Berghaus fleece you can definitely notice the wind stopping capabilities. It also looks quite smart. However, a couple of small things which should really be addressed given it's supposed RRP. The length in the body needs to be around 2-3 inches longer as most t-shirts etc I wear stick out of the bottom of it. Also, the cord on the zips come loose and have fallen off on a couple of occasions. This has been indoors so I've not lost any yet but no doubt it's just a matter of time before I do. This doesn't in any way affect the functionality however, they do make grabbing the zips that little bit easier. If these two issues were addressed I would without doubt give it a 5 star rating but for me whilst it's good and I do like the fit, look and performance it's just not had the final few elements properly thought out.
Last season I snapped the metal guide on my main goretex shell zip which meant that the zip wouldn't close. So I used a windproof fleece for skiing for three weeks, this one... http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/north-ridge-hurricane-windproof-jacket-p206622
It was fine to ski in, and I only had a long sleeved HH base underneath it. OK, I wouldn't want to be up in a high mountain storm in it, but for resort skiing and forested off piste it was fine. I love this bit of kit, truly great value.
I bought this fleece after comparing it to many other premium fleeces from more recognized brands and found it to be better value for money and better quality than some twice the price. I am a farmer and this fleece sees alot of tough weather, abrasion through use and has excelled compared to previously owned premium fleeces from more recognized brands.
i have tow of these one in each colour
they are great when the wind is blowing and but it is not raining. it does well against the rain as well
I just bought one of these jackets and recently wore it on Gran Paradiso and Mt Blanc. Exceptionally warm and comfortable with pretty good windproofing. It was on offer and so was a real bargain. Early days, but if it lasts well then I will be extremely happy and on my experience so far I highly recommend the jacket.
Very impressive. Not something for the worst of weathers but perfect as an outer layer on a solid, UK winter, walking day. Warm but not overly so. Good waterproofing and excellent seals along all joints. Warm lined collar is a nice added touch when the weather gets a bit colder!
