Take your actual body measurements as they are more accurate than measuring over your clothes or shoes.
Collar: Measure around the base of the neck where the collar sits.
Chest: Measure the chest at the fullest part, placing the tape close up under the arms.
Waist: Measure the natural waistline.
Inside Leg: Measure from the crotch to where your trouser is normally worn on the shoe.
Jacket Length: Measure from the centre back of your neck to your hemline. The length measurement will vary depending on the style.
Feet: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure your foot (from the heel to the tip of your longest toe) Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two.
I was after a cheap pair of waterproof over-trousers for a weekend walking in the lakes. Read the review of this product before buying. Most said they were good apart from the pocket flaps which were too big and facing the wrong way. I sealed the pocket flaps with duct tape, inside and out and hey presto, very light, completely waterproof trousers.
I don't need waterproof overtrousers very often, in fact these probably wont get used again til next years festival trip, they kept me dry and stopped the water running into my wellies! result!
Apparently these protect from the wettest weather, unfortunately I was let down by these during a shower.
Althought they did hold the water back for a short while, around 10 minutes into my walk in the rain I could feel water soaking through them.
This item does actually keep water out! Compared to previously purchased so called waterproof clothing.
Thank you
I haven't used these waterproof overtrousers yet but the only criticism I have read in most of the reviews is the pockets - opening the wrong way so they catch the wind and rain etc.
Next time my wife has her sewing maching out I'm going to get her to sew the pockets up, I don't need them and for the price of the trousers it's a small modification.
On a big plus they pack away into a tiny package, great when space is at a premium when touring on a motorbike.
Absolutely useless. Have worn them on 2 occasions in the rain, both times they let the rain through and soaked me. May as well have no worn anything on top of my proper trousers.
The first occasion the rain just seemed to soak through the material, and on the second it soaked through the seams more, resulting in the inside of my trouser legs getting soaked. I don't understand that at all, given that the inside of my legs should have been the most protected from the rain.
The pocket holes are too big, face the wrong way so they open in the wind and let the rain in, and don't even have a small tab of velcro just to let you close them.
The bottom of the legs ride up too, so after a few minutes walking they are sitting a few inches above the hem of your trousers letting them get soaked. Even tucking your trousers into your socks does not help as they still ride up and sit over the top of your boot soaking your feet.
As walking trousers these are rubbish. At most the only reason you would have them is to keep in the car incase you break down while its raining and need to get out, or some other use that does not involve much more than just standing relatively still out of the wind.
Light weight, yes; waterproof, yes;easily storable yes; stupid pocket design YES! The pockets are seriously the wrong way round. The opening faces the front of the trouser rather than the back. As others have found, they open when you walk, the wind will open them when you face towards the wind, and rain just floods in. USELESS
really good addition to my hi gear jacket
I bought these trousers for Walking the dog and out and about, I get caught in a heavy shower, Strong wind blowing and feel my front pocket areas wet?
Upon heading home, I notice the pocket areas opening/Closing as you walk? As did the same when the wind was blowing??
A pretty poor design fault I think, unless you have a long waterproof jacket down by your thighs!
I Would NOT recommend this product to anyone.
After what would have been only my fourth day wearing the Hi-Gear Stowaway Trousers since buying them last Saturday I've had to put them in the bin. The open pockets are just too big and gape open while walking, I really wish I had inspected them better before purchasing (my fault, I know...), so much so that when I was exiting the garage side door this morning one of the pockets caught on the door handle and subsequently ripped the trouser half the way down the leg. I couldn't believe my luck. I showed my wife and she laughed, so at least it was worth a small fraction of the price of the trousers to see her happy (even if it was at my misfortune).
To be fair to the trousers they are waterproof - but yet again, the pockets are too big, especially when cycling water ingress is an absolute cert during downpours.
I'm now not only left without a pair of waterproof trousers but also in a confused state of mind - was it a fault in the design of the trouser pockets (i.e. could they be smaller, or close over with a single popper?) or should I perhaps be more careful when walking beside door handles? If this mishap hadn't occurred would I have had to wait another 2, 3 or 4 months to see my wife laugh again? So many questions, little answers and no trousers.
Just purchased High Gear Men's Stowaway Trousers. Good fit, lightweight and easily stored as name suggests. Good value. Not 'road tested yet', but my Wife has the Ladies equivalent and recommends them having 'road tested' hers!
Hi, I run a high pressure cleaning company and we obviously get extremely wet and dirty. We have tried all types of different waterproofs and for the money these are by far the best... I can't fault them, we wear them 10 hrs every day (all weather conditions) and they keep us dry. They're quality and lightweight and last a long time too... I can't think of anyone who would be in a better position than ourselves to review these!
I bought these for general use when the rain is on and off. The trousers aren't waterproof, I sat on a bench and my bottom got wet, not good.
Very useful, lightweight but sturdy waterproof trousers which keep out the weather, when you need them. Stowaway bag makes them easy to pop in the rucksack too.
